So, now we can stop with the dumb swine flu comparisons.

As of now, since the first case reported in the U.S. on Jan. 19:
380,743 reported cases in the U.S. 11,907 deaths
4 percent fatality rate
In one year with swine flu, there were 60.8 million cases and 12,500 deaths (CDC estimates). We'll likely surpass that death toll in 24 hours or so.
.02 percent fatality rate
That's why there wasn't a shut down in 2009. That's why there wasn't "media hype". That's why it's not political. It wasn't to hurt our economy. It wasn't to bring down Trump. It's a real threat, and any other claims leading up to it were dumb, dumb, dumb. Pure and simple.
I hope those who compared the two and claimed it was political/just media hype feel foolish now. At this rate, those who compared it to the common flu will feel pretty stupid too very soon.
Although I hope I'm wrong.

So it still hasn’t killed as many people or infected as many people as the flu does every year.
The death rate looks a lot worse, although it’s probably a lot lower based on the fact that they estimate 10x more people could have the disease.
I don’t think anybody has suggested that measures didn’t need to be taken. The problem is you far left wingers for some reason think that everybody should follow New York and California where the outbreak was much worse.

Not all of those deaths are from CV19.

A minute. For reasons discussed a few times over the last couple days, the deaths attributable to CVD are probably slightly high, and the reported cases are probably nowhere close to representing the actual exposure/infection rate. Will look forward to antibodies tests for that one.

Coronary failure, and stroke deaths are way, way down against 20+ years of relevant data, it’s not because the general population started living healthy in 2020. Those deaths just got moved to another (CVD-19) column. My personal opinion is that statistically speaking, where there are dual causes, we should subtract the number of deaths below the statistical means in those categories from the CVD-19 totals because (again, statistically) they would have happened without the virus.
I’m sure there are a million epidemiological holes to poke in the argument, but it seems logical enough.

but I was talking to my dad today who’s a cardiologist. He said he doesn’t really deal with people that have Covid. He said the amount of people that come into the hospital for the normal heart issues (A Fib, heart attacks, coronary failure, etc. is WAY down. They cant figure it out. Even if people are at home, he would still expect to see many more people with heart issues. His theory is people are just resting and not really doing anything stressful, and there is less strain on their bodies and less medical complications because of it.
Like I said, totally anecdotal, but thought it was interesting.

I don't know. I read that what Covid-19 does is line the alveoli of the lungs, making it impossible for oxygen to pass through the membrane and into the red blood cells. It denies oxygen to the organs and they shut down. It can cause heart attacks for lack of oxygen to the muscles of the heart.
But I'm sure some have died of underlying causes who also had tested for Covid-19. They're saying that people have died but were not 'actually' tested for Covid-19 so they aren't counted as Covid-19 deaths.
Whatever, there's been way too many. There are a lot of heartbroken families in America right now.
