Why couldn't we get Shaka? I feel like he

Would be a perfect fit to rejuvenate the program. We just have to show some balls and some green paper.

Because Smart is familiar with our program and wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. That's why. You act like we never contacted him at all. He has no interest. Most established coaches do not. For the very reasons Brownell can't win here.

Bowden is doing a good job. It isn't the 80's any more.

You just can't expect to win at Clemson anymore like we used to. We won't be able to attract the kind of coach that could win here like we did in the 80's.

I see what you did there. Nice.

And I agree. If we can find a coach who is capable of developing players and getting the potential out of them, our program will begin to grow as it should. Clemson is a good place to be, and a competent, committed coach CAN win here in basketball.

Show the ability to develop players FIRST - then the recruiting will improve.

How about because we don't have a coaching vacancy?

As a VCU grad school alum, I'm sad

Apr 3, 2015, 7:05 AM

But I understand. And VCU has a great record of finding the right next guy.

Wish Clemson could do the same. I was at Clemson when Cliff Ellis was there. Hard to believe how relatively good we were back then compared to now. That's REALLY sad.

What is sad is that we really didn't like ole cliffy too

Apr 3, 2015, 7:18 AM

much. He couldn't get us to where we needed to go. 25 years later and hindsight says he's the better than any we have had since

Really hated to see this. I live in Richmond, and not only is he a great coach, a good disciplinarian, and delivers an exciting brand of Bball, he's a total class act. Both he and his wife Maya have been very engaged in the community. He will be missed, but it's hard to blame him. Great opportunity for him.
