that deLIGHTful 63-17 beatdown @ Willie B. (No, he didn't die..just retired from ESPN hosting).
Good riddance even though he knew a lot about football, had lots of funny & wise sayings & advice, won a Natty with a Woodruff SC QB..
But broke a lot of rules to get where he got imo, was so bias..especially towards Clemson when a commentator on ESPN, and always seemed to defend & pull outwardly for NDame..and sadly even railed for his failed SC attempt by including them in his rantings against the Tigers.
GoTiGERS & DaBO..take the high road in losing & winning!

Tony Rice played at Woodruff HS , not at Summerville . LBB , I am sorry but that is one of the few trivial things I remember from that time in my life ...I was 20 then and actually pulled for the Irish in that game.

Yep. Theres a principal in my school district who played for holtz at usuck. He said lou ran a shady program at best breaking rules. He actually left the program for a smaller school because of it and he played a good bit at scar while there. His wife and my wife teach 3rd grade together and they have talked often about it.

fans who have a strong disliking of Lou Holtz, also.
No ill will toward the man, of course, but many Clemson fans, including me, developed a disliking when he was at NC State. I still blame him directly for the ugly brawl during our game at DV, for he should never have allowed his team to gather at the foot of the hill and taunt our team - the spark that eventually resulted in the fighting.
And why on the face of the earth ESPN continued to allow his biased drivel, feigned as analysis, to continue for so long has baffled me since his first appearance. Then again, that's ESPN.

ESPN will replace Lou with ... who? They will try to find a former coach that is colorful.
For that reason I wish Lou would not retire. The man is colorful and was a successful coach ... it made for good TV viewing.
Who will fill his seat? Please not Mack Brown. If Bobby Bowden would do it I would go for that. When he retires it would be a good gig for Spurrier, but that's a decade away I suspect.
