It is FAR from a sure win. Before the cancellation, I thought it would be a fairly close game.

I think MU had a punchers chance this year. They have a RS Fresh dual threat QB, but his poise is off the charts. Two very good WR's (both transfers from bigger programs), two nice RBs. MU's biggest problem would have been a lack of depth in the trenches. Also, historically MU does not play for 'moral victories', they give their best shot when they play P5 teams. HAHA I just included uscjr as a P5 team.

Could have told them that the game in Columbia was a misuse of resources, even without the hurricane.

True. Marshall has to be disappointed.

A little thundering heard in Columbia and they close up shop.

Hmmm... could we end up doing the same- possibly due to political pressure- if our feathered friends just 130 mi down the road went ahead and canceled theirs?

You missed the point.
Clemson is proactive. Chickens are reactive. Clemson leads. Chickens follow. There is rarely any need for Clemson to reevaluate any decision based on the later decisions made by anyone in the USC administration.
Part of this is logistical; they are truly the state's flagship university, sad as that is. Part is because they affect a larger population in more of the state. Part is also quality of leadership--our AD team made a quicker decision with the luxury of being farther inland.

The only other SEC teams playing that day will be in the conference championship.
Tanner should tell Marshall to keep the plane fueled up. They might need a last gasp win to become bowl eligible...

Not to worry. Since they were favored, they will count

this as a win once the season is over. Can you imagine their glee if this had happened last weekend!

The real question is: Would the chickens have cancelled the game if they had beaten UGA last week? They know they have no chance to win the SEC Least, so their season is basically over. Wait until next year.

They got a break and will schedule a huge Patsy now. I’m not so sure they were going to beat Marshall

They need the extra week to prepare for Vandy.
The may also end-up needing that Marshall game for bowl eligibility.
