without even playing the #2 (Mississippi State), #3 (Alabama), or #4 (LSU) placed teams in the league. This was before they had the SEC Championship game so it was kinda like winning the SEC East.

It was a long time ago and it is a big deal. With that being said ... it's not everything.
Not saying you, but many on this board state time, and time, and time again that Georgia is irrelevant. Nothing can be further from the truth ... and most Clemson fans know that. Sure we would like another title (or two or three), especially in the new play-off era. Personally, as a Dawg fan that has been a long term supporter of CU, knows that the taste that Clemson has in their mouths is sweeter than that of any Dawg fan.
Did you know that even with the recent success of CU that since Georgia's last NC in 1980 (since that is the benchmark of choice for Clemson fans):
- Georgia and Clemson has within a few basis points, which Georgia has a very slight edge, have the same winning percentage?
- Georgia has ended up, on average, ranked higher than CU?
- Georgia's opponents have ended the season(s) ranked higher than those of CU?
- Georgia has beaten Clemson 9 times to Clemson's 5 wins ... and one tie?
Bottom line, true champions don't have to tear anyone down in order to make their team look better. Dabo is a champion (and a better man) - can't say anything bad about him ... except it may be time for him to quite playing the no respect card. His teams have earned it.
No longer bored ... need to get back to work!

I looked it up and finally found the Mutt's national championship was listed in the Ancient History section. It was the 1980 championship and I was just a mere kid of 59 at that time.
