I just have a few questions about the OSU situation?

Aug 2, 2018, 4:14 PM

If Courtney Smith felt it was time to come forward with the the domestic violence situation between her and her husband why did she not come forward and make OSU President, The OSU Board and HC Urban Meyer aware of the situation. If it happened in 2015 why did it take 3 years for this to become front page news with ever media source. If the Smith’s were legally separated in 2015 why did it take 3 years for her to put this on Urban Meyer. At one time the police and lawyers handled these things, not employers. Maybe in 2015 Courtney Smith did not want her husband fired. It would possibly have affected her settlement and child support. Which she is entitled too.

I understand her confiding in the coaches wives, but why put the burden on Shelly Meyer or the other coaches wives to tell Urban Meyer. I feel it was Courtney Smith’s responsibility to bring this the the attention of OSU.

Don’t get me wrong I am not saying Urban Meyer is a choir boy. But it seems like all of the sudden this issue has become important enough for everybody to be calling for Urban Meyers Head! Once the media gets on the fire the person bandwagon it’s almost impossible for that person to survive the situation.

I just want to be clear as to when stuff happened and who should have told who, what legally OSU and Urban Meyer are responsible for. When do you as the boss or employer interfere into an employees private life??

I am not in anyway condoning Zack Smith’s behavior. I am just not sure these matters should not be handled by the police and the court systems.

The time frame 2015 to 2018 is what I have a problem with. And the fact that Coach Smith’s wife did not go directly to OSU officials in 2015 and Zack Smith was not charged with domestic violence in 2015.

Looking for some opinions and intelligent discussions. IMO if Urban Meyer is fired I see another law suit.

well, for starters she is not an employee of OSU

Aug 2, 2018, 4:27 PM

why in the world would she go to the president or her husband's employer? She went to the police, as far as I am concerned she owes NO ONE any explanation as far as why she didn't contact OSU. I don't know whether she is being 100% forthright or not, but I can absolutely tell you there is no law in the country requiring you to notify your spouse's employer of abuse.

What makes Urban Meyer so responsible? She went to Shelly Urban’s wife and wanted him to know. Why put that burden on someone else. Why not go to Urban Meyer herself about her husbands abuse. Why not go to OSU. She now clearly wants the whole world to know.

I am not throwing an abused victim under the bus. I just see it as more of her responsibility to make sure her husband answered for the abuse. Why is Urban Meyer suddenly the fall guy?

And I don’t even like Urban Meyer. I just wondered why he becomes the sacrificial lamb? You can’t read a news article that is not calling for Meyers’s job.

because of the title IX clause in his contract that states

Aug 2, 2018, 4:50 PM

that if he knows of abuse he has to report it to OSU. He can make the argument to his employer and throw his wife under the bus that he was oblivious, but I am not sure it will work. Again, he is not legally guilty of anything. He is by public opinion, GUILTY. This comes down to his employer not wanting to look bad and how far he wants to go saying he had no knowledge prior to this last event. Test cases while not this exact situation but similar show that the "my wife didn;t tell me defense" never works

The more I read about Title IX and the opinion of others, it seems in fact it is not applicable. The incidents did not occur on university grounds nor is the alleged victim a university employee/student. Maybe there are other points obliging him to report, but it seems Title IX is not one of them in this case. I'm not an attorney and have little understanding of this.

I’m with you. The police were informed, the police did next to nothing, what exactly was Urban supposed to do? Employers now handle domestic disputes? Since when? The whole thing is a big stinking mess. I don’t understand why the wife didn’t speak up much sooner and much louder. I don’t understand why Urban would still have him as part of his staff after the 2009 incident. Some lines you just don’t cross, ever, ever, ever. I don’t understand anyone’s behavior in this. Not the police, not the wife, not the husband, not Urban, not his wife.

I’ve had these conversations with my daughters. I don’t understand how these things aren’t handled immediately and decisively.

Excellent points! This is the kind of discussion I am looking for. I wonder why her family did not do more. I watched an interview where she sent photos of her injuries to her family, her husband’s family, Shelly Meyer , so why not send them to Urban if she felt her husband should not be around kids.

Not making excuses for Zack Smith. I see him as scum. Any man that puts his hands on a women in anger is scum.

I just feel we are putting a lot on OSU and Urban Meyer when nothing was done in 2015. How do we know she did not ask that he keep his job if he gets help. A lot of time passed a lot of unanswered questions at least for me to ruin a career. I need more information.

Family was my first thought. No dad? No brothers? Mom is OK with this? His family?
In my family, beating a woman would constitute a state of war and it would not take 6 years to come to an understanding. I can make myself crystal clear in less than 6 seconds. I really don’t understand.

I am with you. If my daughter’s husband abused her I would beat the living he$$ out of him. One of us would be in the hospital and the other in jail. But he would not have useful hands to put them on her again.

All unsubstantiated, but at 11W

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/ohio-state-football/2018/08/94853/rumor-mill

-Urban getting 3 to 4 game suspension.
-Courtney called 911 a total 66 times in 90 days and eventually 911 stopped sending responding officers to the home due to lack of credibility
-In the upcoming precedings between Zach & Courtney, the Powell Police are testifying on Zach's behalf
-Zach & Courtney are both drunks with a history of alcohol related confrontations
-She has been pulled over 3 times for DUI and each time she was pulled over she was escorted home. During all 3 stops she said that Zach was chasing her and in all instances it was verified that Zach was in OSU facilities at the time of the accusation
-Courtney has shown up to OSU practices to fight w/ Zach
-Courtney shopped her story to various media outlets in exchange for money
-Also the pictures circulating of Courtney w/ bruises are from 2010.

Kinda paints her as a special kind of crazy too. I don’t think anyone, including family, knew what to do with these two.

I’m in the same boat as you. It seems Earle may have had a marker on Urb or something. It’s not like Zach was producing top talent. He’s very replaceable. I think things aren’t at all as they seem, or all of OSU is one big cluster...

IMO, I think Gene Smith needs to be the one to step down. Too many things have gone on under his watch.

Re: I just have a few questions about the OSU situation?

There are a lot of things that aren’t making sense about this woman:

1. Her parents knew and have been presumably silent. Either they don’t care about their daughter, or she told them not to tell anyone. Because any loving father is not going to sit back and watch this happen. Which leads to...

2. Maybe the reports of abuse weren’t as we think they are. If police show up to your house multiple times, and not a single charge or arrest was made, then something is off here. Why did all these events have the same outcome? Maybe her parents determined she wasn’t being truthful. I can’t rationalize point 1. She’s also had these documents sealed. I don’t believe she wanted Zach to lose his job because she liked the money. Maybe that’s unfair.

3. She set Zach up. As I understand it, she didn’t show up to pick up their kids at the designated place and time. So Zach took them to her apartment where she called the police in violation of the restraining order. That’s kinda low. He wasn’t there for any other reason.

4. She only comes out after he’s been fired and now has no alimony or child support. She goes into cahoots with an unemployed journalist who has always had an ax to grind with Meyer.

5. That she says all the wives and coaches apparently knew and did nothing doesn’t make sense. Not at all. Surely there is at least one saint who would have said something. Either no one was buying what she was selling, or all of OSU is about to go down. Maybe there’s another explanation here.

6. Zach seems anxious to have his day in the court of law.

7. In the same article as point 6, it says an OSU attorney reached out to her attorney shortly after the incident. How does an OSU attorney reach out unless he has been asked to do so, which would imply someone at OSU was made aware of the incident.

http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/24255877/courtney-smith-people-urban-meyer-knew-15-case

Time will tell, but I’m equally as angry about how the media is currently preparing the guillotine based on 2 text messages that doesn’t implicate Urban at all. This is the “evolution of our society?”

Is an allegation just that an allegation. Innocent until proven guilty. The more I discuss this case the more things just don’t make sense.

She was waiting for Harbaugh’s check to clear

Aug 3, 2018, 12:33 PM

Harbaugh’s bag man didn’t show up until August 2018 when useless Michigan fans all over the world finally gave in to the payment plan to avoid losing their 7th game in a row to OSU.
