It's due to Mardi Gras, many many years ago for a LSU celebration there was np gold ribbon
be found to go along with the purple, however due to Mardi Gras there was plenty of
Purple, yellow, and green ribbon, so they used the yellow. The purple and yellow actually
went together better than the gold (which is basically yellow with a little brown added in) that it
"stuck" and has been used ever since.
