Serious question, do we get better as the season progresses?

USC was a different team earlier in the season, much more beatable I'd say. Their young LBs were out of place and very vulnerable, but as the season unfolded, their coaching staff was able to really improve those guys. Can the same thing be said of our weak spots? It seems to me that over the last few years, our weak spots stay weak all year, sometimes showing improvement the following year. I honestly believe we would have beaten USC by 2 TDs if we had played them earlier in the year.
