That has been around awhile. The good news is the basis of the statement.
He is saying it is hard to be a Clemson fans because there is talent, there is a great atmosphere, there is a national champ, however there are the unusual losses that tear your heart out.
The only way to change that is winning. The alternative to his argument is pulling for a team that never has a chance of winning so I take it as a positive meaning with Clemson there is at least a chance which not everyone can say

Well - the past 4 years have been pretty hard - and we've won the ACC, been to a BCS bowl (that we'd all like to forget), played in the ACCCG twice, owned a bunch of teams, and back-to-back 10-win seasons - BUT, we can't beat our rival. IMO, that makes it hard. I agree with Herbstreit. Dang hard.

Yeah Herbstreit usually gives us a fair shake.. and I couldnt disagree with him when he said it and it's still somewhat true now. While we have had two good seasons, they have been slightly stained by the losses to SCar and the OB. The win over LSU is the first step at overcoming that title and a win over Georgia would get us out of it for a while.
