If im not mistaken, he want have to sit a year because he transferred from another conference. I think that rule only applies to transferring within the same conference!

Since ETSU is a lower division FCS school he has to sit out one year ( NCAA rules) but he will "after "sitting out this year he will have a full three years of eligibility to play . The coaches are ecstatic with the three remaining as essentially instead of his being redshirted this past season he played and was a starter gaining valuable game experience as a true freshman .

I am a friend of Austin's family and today was once again a great day to be a Tiger !
Austin will indeed have to sit out this year but will fully participate in spring football . He was recruited last year by Clemson late by Coach Robbie Caldwell. He played outside Linebacker after only one full year of starting and captured quite a lot of attention as most teams projected him at Free Safety he is 6' 2 200 . He made All American after only one year in track and runs a 10.6 100 meters and consistent 4.4 40 yd. ( best 4.3) as you can see from his track picture he has an impressive build for a safety . All of his combine scores in comparison to last years NFL top safeties he exceeded their performances.
Austin attended only one semester at ETSU on a full scholarship and started at Safety playing both Free and Strong / again the first time he played the position. He drew NFL scouting attention with several area and national scouts. He will pursue a career in medicine and made the Dean's list first semester and posted a 1600 out of High School.

Yes sir the coaches seem to really think so - he will have much time to further develop . To go from HS to College and start at a position you have not played is not an easy feat as you know. He even called the overall Def Signals so a very smart and quick learner.
Coach Venables has said " Austin I need you now" as have Coach Reed but we will have you for three years after this one. They will get him up around 215 and still not compromise his incredible speed at 4.4
Vertical is 41 . He is still growing likely to top at 6'3 6'4 . He was recruited to ETSU by fmr Clemson Alum Mike O'Cain. They all felt Austin had "All Star "
as well as "Sunday potential" . Only time will tell? but for now he is just truly happy to be a Clemson Tiger and too give up a full scholarship and come compete with the very best says a lot about him . He is a very humble but highly gifted young man . His nick name is " the Kraken"  as Coach Swinney said /smiling" wait till they see who snuck in the mix" ! Best is the standard and only the best will play !
