we were gassed, man. UL dominated the t.o.p. and # of plays

in the 3rd quarter and our offense went 3 and out (or turned it over) virtually every play. they were worn out. simple as that. plus, UL is a high powered offense that was averaging 50+ points per game

We played zone in the second half which is a back off defense. Brent admitted as much in his PG interview. Stay with the man to man coverage and better result score wise but we won and isn the end that is all that counts.

You do realize one reason we had to go to zone was due to fatigue. 99 plays and being on the field for almost 2/3's of the game will do that to you

ngatiger: FYI we had not run 99 plays at the START of the second half. We went to zone far too early according to Brent not me. Learn to read and listen. Vendables is correct. We got picked apart on all the short passes to backs when we we're laying back ALL the second half. It's called the Prevent Defense and all it prevents isn a team from winning and it clearly al.most cost us. That its/was his point.

and, once again, we don't have a ton of depth that we can count on in big games. Losing 8 defensive starters two years in a row tends to impact depth.

Our defense was on the field for 99 plays this game. In man to man, tight coverage or whatever you call it, we eventually get worn down and give up even more chunk plays. Bv did what he thought was best so that if we still needed some effort like we did it was there. Look at Boulware's post game. He says it's the most tired he's ever been and recall he's played in a lot of big matchups. Our offense has to do a better job of not turning over the ball or giving up 3 and outs of for no other reason then to get our defense off the field. Points are nice too. Great team effort. Either d, o, or st plays less well and we have a stat in the l column. As it stands, HUHE team win and agree that's all that matters.

read and listen to what Venables said. He admitted he made a mistake going to the zone for the whole second half. They hadn't run 99 plays at the start of the second half. It came from him not me so perhaps some on this freaking shote need to learn to read.

By half if not it was 50. Pretty safe to say 100 was likely. I did see bvs comment. You're right about that. But I disagree. I think he played it right. I wasn't attacking you personally. Im just pointing out the team was on the field a lot.
