Sad Day, Coach Dale Evans, former Dorman High Coach passed

May 7, 2014, 11:41 AM

away this morning after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a great man and impacted so many people. There will never be another one like him. He always offered advice, or assistance in any way possible even as I got older and had my own family. He loved everyone, and everyone loved him. Our loss is truly heaven's gain today. He taught us all this saying and I hold it dear today. So in honor of him...
Stick to the task til it sticks to you
beginners are many, enders are few
Honor, glory, power, and praise,
always comes to the one who stays.
Stick to the task til it sticks to you
bend with it, sweat with it, smile with it too
for out of the bend the sweat and the smile,
will come life's victories after a while.

I remember Coach Evans well. I never got the chance to play for him, as he retired from coaching the season before I moved to play varsity. He was a great man, & he never forgot a name. I have many memories of him from my time at Dorman (and before I ever got there). He will me miss greatly.

Thanks for reminding me of "Stick to the task". I haven't heard that in years.

RIP Coach Evans.. May you forever wear your golf shoes

w/o the spikes in them in Heaven. He was a great ambassador for DHS and a good man.
