Sad Day

Mar 28, 2014, 1:01 PM

After 15 years with my family it is time to let Shiloh go to a better place. The decision wasn't difficult but I know saying goodbye this afternoon will be.

Rest in peace, sweet girl.

Sorry. We had to do that 2 years ago. We didn't have much time to think about it, which probably made it easier on the front end, but it sucked.

May comfort come... and may you always cherish the memories she brought you. I have two young ones... and I am already dreading the day that they will depart from us.

Shiloh will be on the rainbow bridge when you get there.

Mar 28, 2014, 1:23 PM

Sorry for your loss...

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Putting our Dalmatian to sleep during my junior year of high school was really tough for me because she had been around almost my entire life.

Re: Sad Day

Mar 28, 2014, 3:35 PM

Papa, I have raised and buried many a dog in my day.....and I have shed many tears in the process. It never, EVER, gets easier to lose one but I will give you some advice that I learned long ago. Get a puppy. Immediately. It will not make you forget about Shiloh but it will give you a piece of your heart back. I've often wondered if it was a cruel fact of life that God made dogs' life spans shorter than ours....but have come to the conclusion that he did so in a deliberate way to allow us to enjoy the love and affection of many dogs. It is something worth pondering.

My sincere condolences to you and yours.....

SCdorks could possibly be the most worthless site in the web. No serious conservationist would visit that place more than once.

My main complaint is it's full of pompous ########, most of them coots.

Mar 28, 2014, 5:24 PM

Trust me, papa......the worst problem there is not chickens.....it's a$$holes with too much time on their hands and opinions based on ignorance. If you want advice on dogs or waterfowl conservation, look elsewhere.

Again, my condolences. Losing a trusted friend is a tough thing to bear. Been dealing with it my entire life...

There is nothing like the love a good dog can give and I can see in her eyes that she was that type of dog.

God bless you and your family.

lungers can be decent people every once and awhile.

Definitely one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but it was peaceful and she's in a better place.
