I took a pic with Dabo once and towered above him and I'm not really that tall myself (shocker!).

Saban is proof of the old adage. It's his intensity, focus, and attention to detail that have generated the professional success he's enjoyed.

That said, the angle of the photo probably enhances the height difference between the two. Dabo's probably in the 5-10 to 5-11 range and Saban is probably 5-6 to 5-7. The average American aged 20-29 is 5-9 1/2. Saban is in his 60s, and his generation will be slightly shorter than men in their 20s by about a half an inch, maybe a little less.

The other thing is that we're used to seeing Dabo towered over by football players who are a) much taller than your average American and b) wearing cleats that add another inch and a half. I remember looking up at one of our DEs, I forget who it was, but he was about 6-4/5, but in cleats, shoulder pads, and a helmet, he looked like a giant. Looking at the same guys walking in in suits and dress shoes isn't close to the same thing.
