In my opinion, this story is all about managing Saban’s image - to make him seem nicer than he really is. In fact, he was rude on the national broadcast and he should have apologized. However, to announce to the world that he apologized and to get so much positive press attention for doing what any decent person would do - that part is what sickens me.

His grinning mug on ESPN magazine is so creepy. Yet, the ESPN machine is trying to recast him as a really nice guy. Good recruiter / coach = yes; nice guy = unlikely based on his public behavior.

Played golf a few weeks ago with a guy who has friends that live in the same slough as him at Lake Burton. They were visiting their friends and just sitting on their boat that happened to drift towards little satan’s house and he came down to the dock and just cursed them out and told them they had to move. They just flipped him off. He apparently treats everyone on the lake like a servant. His public and private behavior seem consistent.
