Teams with BCS opportunity...

Dec 3, 2013, 3:05 PM

The following teams have a shot at the BCS: Only 10 make it...

FSU and Clemson (Duke has a shot but...not gonna happen)

2 SEC (Bama, Aub/Missou)

Arizona State/Stanford, Oregon

Ok. State and/or Baylor/Oklahoma

Ohio State/Michigan State winner

UCF

N. Ill.

It seems the following are locks: 8 teams

N. Ill (unless they lose conference title)
UCF (b/c of their aq status with AAC)
FSU
Ohio State
Bama
Aub/Missou
Stanford/ASU
Ok. State

At large possibilities...5 possible
Clemson, Baylor, Pac 12 loser/Oregon, OSU IF MSU beats them, Oklahoma IF they beat Ok. State

We are in good shape. Orange will either take us or ASSURE we are in Rose Bowl. Oklahoma and MSU winning will present a problem.

Rose bowl? Rose bowl is B1G vs PAC always unless a non AQ is ranked higher than second place B1g or PAC

"In the instance that the Pac-12 or Big Ten champion receives a bid to the BCS National Championship, the Rose Bowl is filled by either the second place team of the conference with the team that opted out, or if a "non Big-6"(a school not part of the major conferences) is ranked higher in the BCS standings they receive the bid over the second place team. This occurred in 2010 when Oregon played in the BCS Championship Game, and TCU (Mountain West Conference) filled Oregon's place in the Rose Bowl, not the Pac-12 second place, Stanford."

One big thing we have going for us is that.........

Dec 3, 2013, 3:11 PM

we bring a lot of fans to a bowl game - can't see the OB being too interested, for example, in a West Coast team because of the travel to Miami.

Michigan St. is going to Rose Bowl win or lose on Sat.

Dec 3, 2013, 3:14 PM

Clemson is Orange-bound against Bama unless Duke beats FSU, IMO.

Classic offense vs. defense. Ohio St. getting over 300 yds

Dec 3, 2013, 3:18 PM

rushing per game (I believe #2 in the nation), Michigan St. allowing 60-something yards rushing per game (best in the nation).

Mich State isn't going to the Rose Bowl if they fall out of the top 14 of the BCS standings.

Also, we won't be playing Bama in the Orange Bowl if MI ST beats OH ST because Bama will be in the Sugar then. We'd probably be playing OH ST in the Orange if that happens.

Michigan St. won't fall below 14...that's a long way down.

Dec 3, 2013, 3:30 PM

Unless they get beat 82-0 or something.

2nd part is right, I think, about Clemson/Ohio St. in Orange***

An 11-2 MSU team will represent the B10 in the Rose bowl if they lose to OSU. An 11-2 MSU team not falling below #14.

Rose Bowl? Put the meth down buddy.***

And the irony in all this, the Coots will end up 11-2 playing some happless opponent in the Capital One or Outback and finish most likely 6 or 7 no worse than 8 with a win, and we have to play Bama in Florida, we will finish 10-3 - a massive embarassment on National TV - remember Tide does what coots did - ball control and force turnovers - and likely fall to 18 - 20 in final poll. Wonderful! I say likely, if by some chance the lord smiles on us and Saban can't get his kids to give a dang bout anything but a national championship, then we could finish in top 10. Sad thing, we'll be one of the lowest rank teams playing in a a bowl game. Wow, that is something to be proud of I guess.
