Report: Nkemdiche brothers file counter-claim in assault

Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche have responded to a man suing the Ole Miss football players with a lawsuit of their own.
According to the Clarion-Ledger, the Nkemdiche brothers have denied all allegations made against them in a $2 million civil suit and filed a counter-claim against Matthew Baird seeking an unspecified amount in damages for "untrue and false statements."
In his original suit, filed Feb. 14, Matthew Baird alleged that Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche were among a group of Ole Miss football players who kicked and punched him outside a fraternity party in February 2013.
According to the Clarion-Ledger, the Nkemdiches addressed Baird's suit paragraph-by-paragraph in their counter-claim.

Robert was sent to Ole Miss because the pay was good and that is where Denzel is. I have a feeling that in big momma's head, it's all about Denzel and she sacrificed what Robert wanted to make herself and Denzel happy. Oh well, it all worked out fine for our tigers. We have great players, like Vic Beasley, who are also great people. Robert may have brought a ton of drama and conflict to the team. We are definitely better off without him.

Interesting that the school feels the need to state that they support the brothers.
Why do they feel the need to support one side or the other (I assume the other kid is a student as well)
Why not let it play out before they pick a side?
