past the first round of the NCAA Tournament on a semi-regular basis. That was where Purnell had us, and that was the wall that Purnell hit.

Now after seven years (barring a miraculous turnaround), just getting back close to where we were will be considered progress.

What's Brownell's record in the ACC Tournament?

2-6 with the quarterfinal being the best he could do.

Also, please don't forget that the best Brownell has done is get us to the Round of 64. He has never advanced further in the NCAA tournament than Purnell did.
