pushing the ACC to call this one a forfeit. Look out remaining opponents, a ticked off Dabo always equates to a motivated team down the stretch.

I don’t disagree, but if I were the ACC I also would not screw with the cash cow for football revenues in the league either. Clemson is a very marketable program right now.

Representatives from Clemson, FSU, and the ACC were supposedly in on the discussion. The designation as a forfeit should have been cleared up yesterday. Some heads at FSU need to roll tomorrow. You cannot change rules midway through a season.

Apparently FSU thinks they can change the rules to suit them.

Why can’t we just make a Covid excuse on the 12th? That’s the new standard.

They can't force any team to play. We just saw that on Saturday.

Apparently FSU thinks they can change the rules to suit them.
The bigger frustration is that the league didn’t dig its heels in on its own agreed upon standards and override the FSU decision. Although nothing new to Clemson, but a spineless move by the league. This time around, though, the head coach has the support of both his President and AD.

I doubt they could have forced them to play

However, they could have mediated whether the standard to play was met (as Dabo claims). Given that standard, they could have deferred to the medical staffs to either play, reschedule or forfeit. Being conscious of the actual costs of travel is something they can consider since that is their only role as a conference/organizer.

Once the ACC was satisfied that all ACC agreed upon

safety protocols and procedures were met, the ACC should have given FSU an ultimatum to choose between one of two options:
Option 1: Play the game IAW ACC guidelines and rules.
or
Option 2: FSU forfeits the game and credits Clemson with a win and FSU a loss.
No consideration of rescheduling should have been offered or considered. Clemson met the ACC standard of play and FSU refused to participate. The ACC's weakness in this situation is on full display and may have just set a bad precedent for the future.

Clemson will not pay to go back nor should they. If someone else wants to pick up the tab so be it.
Otherwise you have to call it a forfeit. Otherwise we could have came up with an excuse not to play ND or visa versa.
You assumed the risk boneheads. Did you not think the risk was there in playing medical staff? Why are you letting FSU play at all.
