Reaching out to you with these poignant thoughts

Mar 18, 2020, 6:22 PM

“Prayer for a Pandemic"

May we who are merely inconvenienced
remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors
remember those who are most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working from home
remember those who must choose
between preserving their health or making the rent.
May we who have the flexibility
of caring for our children when their schools close
remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips
remember those who have no safe place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money
in the tumult of the economic market
remember those who have no margin at all.
May we who settle in for a quarantine at home
remember those who have no home.
As fear grips our country
let us choose love.
During this time
when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other
let us find ways to be the loving embrace to our neighbors.

Amen

Praying is the best thing we can do now and i thank you for

posting this. Those who have it should be avoided obviously within reason but in most cases self-quarantines are plenty as long as we keep our heads and in most cases cooler heads prevail stand true.

Not to get preachy...

Mar 19, 2020, 9:58 AM

but remembering those people doesnt meet the need. Do something to help.

For an example, my wife and I made little note cards that said our names and numbers and if anyone needed us to get groceries or supplies, give us a call and we will go pick them up for you. We have a couple of elderly folk in our neighborhood and at least two people that have a severe illness that would put them at major risk.

Again, not being preachy. As a Christian it bothers me sometimes when people say 'well let's pray for them.' I agree, pray. But also be the hands and feet.

Nice prayer but needs to add a couple of key items...

Mar 19, 2020, 10:00 AM

- May we pray for the health providers who are putting themselves at risk and working countless hours to treat the sick. We ask for the Lord's strength and protection for these people.

- May we pray to the Lord for healing. We ask that the Lord's divine guiding hand will lead our scientists and researchers to finding successful ways to combat this illness.

- May we pray that all of us remember, regardless of the outcome of this dreaded disease, that you Lord are still in charge and that nothing happens on Earth or Heaven that is not under your loving and caring control.

- In all things, may your will be done Lord.

In the name of Jesus we pray,
Amen.
