Gamecock Logic...... hahahaha

[19]
Posted: Dec 16, 2013 1:54 PM

Spurrier is USuC's greatest coach because he wins 10 games a year.

Dabo is a terrible coach because he only wins 10 games a year at Clemson.

That means a good coach would win 12 games at Clemson. 12 games equals playing in the national championship every year. I didn't realize that is what Dabo would have to do every year to be a good coach haha. I'll take that as a complement shamecock nation haha.

Go Tigers!

FYI, someone should change the name of the FGF board to the Dabo Swinney board, they are in love with him there.

It is called growth

Best coach for coots due to losing record overall before he got there

Best coach back to back 11 win seasons and 3 10 wins never done at USC or Clemson

Best coach 5 in a row over clemson never done

Top 10 never done

Lots of nevers in columbia

Not so much in clemson so.....

Yes Spurrier is the best coach they have ever had

Dabo may or may not be the best ever at Clemson due to different standard and history

Not right to diminish what he has done there, it simply makes us look petty and childish...facts are he has done a heck of a job there

Dabo has done a good job here too. The issue is Dabos good hasn;t beaten Spurriers good 5 times in a row so it hurts. However, he has ACC champ and 2BCS bowls to make up for it

You're right, there are lots of nevers in columbia....

like never winning an $EC championship or playing in a BCS bowl.

What it all boils down to is that he's simply managed to consistently beat Clemson.

So what you're saying is, ultimately Spurrier is simply a reincarnate of Tommy Bowden

actually merely a beneficiary of Bowden's resignation. (which led to a small recruiting class that stuck with Clemson for 4 years and coaching instability)

More impressive to win 10 games playing their schedule than winning 10 games playing ours. 10 games in our league gets us a BCS bowl, not for them. Hate to say it but with logic like this you are playing into the coots hands. The BCS changes next year and if the new rules would have been in place the Coots would be going to their third straight BCS Bowl. Keep that in mind.

South Carolina's 10 wins might be more impressive, (in your mind) but their losses were to teams with less talent. They also squeaked by Missouri by the grace of God. And Clemson opened the season with a healthy UGA team and lost to the team that could win the national championship and their in state rival at their stadium. South Carolina lost to Tennessee and a UGA team whose leading rusher was hobbled.

Gurley had 12 rushes before leaaving the clemson game. he had 30 rushes vs SC, not to mention SC played AT georgia. When was the last time Clemson played in an environment that tough and won?

With the parity in college football today a win is a win to me. I suppose the computer rankings might calculate them differently, but that didn't help South Carolina this year. (probably because of their loss to Tennessee which only proves my point about a win being a win)

Clemson is playing a tougher opponent in a better location in their bowl game, so it appears the bowl selection committee or ties-ins agreed that Clemson's total body of work this season was more impressive than South Carolina's. (despite their "more impressive wins" at UGA & Missouri)

You and your inbreed coot family think Dabo is a bad coach. Your incompetent chicken brain fails to realize that your greatest coach'a biggest accomplishment is beating Clemson. Way to admit you're the little brother.

Biggest Accomplishment?

Posted: Dec 16, 2013 2:35 PM

Don't flatter yourself. Beating #1 Alabama; winning 11 games 3 years in a row (assuming a victory over Whisky); making the SECCG. Those are his biggest accomplishments.

Beating Clemson is getting routine..hell we've had worse luck with Kentucky than Clemson over the last five years. Maybe Dabo should reset his goals. Keeping the game close, say within only one score, is a good place to start.

You are one thirsty son of a gun

[2]
Posted: Dec 16, 2013 10:37 PM

Dabo has beaten plenty of ranked teams as well. He has made it to 2 ACCCGs (winning one of them) and made it to 2 BCS bowls. Even when he didn't make it he still managed to share the division. He's also produced 3 first rounders (assuming Sammy's projection pans out).

Besides, you can't define a coach over how he does against one opponent. If you did, Tommy Bowden would be the best head coach Clemson ever had, and he never won more than 9 games. You define a coach by what he has done overall. Yes, Spurrier has done a lot overall but so has Dabo. Anyone that tries to say either coach is bad compared to the other is delusional. They've accomplished similar feats and deserve similar honors. Trying to judge Dabo just because he's only beaten SC once is like trying to completely discount every other thing he has done here.

Not to mention, he completely erased the one thing Clemson was known for in the past: losing to inferior teams. In the past 2 years, Clemson has beaten every ranked opponent they've played by double digits. Meanwhile, SC has struggled to put away the likes of Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida, and, of course, Tennessee. Which is another thing I find funny. Dabo loses 2 games, both to top 10 teams, and all of the sudden he's gone. Spurrier loses to a non-bowl eligible Tennessee but that's no problem because he beat Clemson. I'm sorry, but I'd rather lose to a #### GOOD South Carolina team that the likes of Wake Forest or Virginia.

To be fair, no coach has done well under daniel snyder.

That being said he is a great college coach. Has turned our program around. Dabo has done well also but didn't really have as big of a hill to climb as spurrier. One point for dabo, though, is that he is doing a lot at what is still a young age for a coach a a big football school. Just think of the difference in experience levels when those two meet. They are both doing well for their schools and seem to enjoy being where they are. Can't ask for much more from either at this point. I know losing to your rival sucks. Nobody knows that more than gamecock fans. Dabo is doing his best though and has plenty to learn and time to do it. Anger at the streak aside, I can't imagine why clemson would run him off. He is a young, growing coach who fits well with the clemson program.

Dabo has also been coaching with the small recruiting class left by Bowden's resignation.

So Clemson should see even better results going forward.

Re: Gamecock Logic...... hahahaha

He also has quality assistant coaches now and an athletic director with a history of building large scale building projects, which could further improve recruiting if done well.

We play more games now than in the past

So the "never done 10 win" thing doesn't mean much.

You could argue Clemson is having their best run ever...

[1]
Posted: Dec 16, 2013 2:03 PM

I'm not even sure Clemson won 11 games in consecutive years in the 80s. And yet five in a row.

We play more games now than in the past

[1]

So of course we haven't had consecutive 11 win years, even in the 80's. Practically every .500 team is guaranteed a bowl now, too.

I guess the only way to compare him to Bowden and steal any thunder he may have would be if he didn;t have all the firsts taht he has successfully accomplished

He got USC to tops in Grad rate in the SEC

Top GPA ever for football and top SEC

back to back 11 win seasons never done at Clemson or USC

Multiple big bowls for team who didn;t go to bowls often

most wins in school history for a coach (Does Bowden have the most wins)

Longest home win streak

2 years of undefeated at home

Beat #1 Bama

Beat UGA, Tenn, fla Clemson all 2 years in a row (never been done)

I mean come on guys this guy is no Bowden, he is doing things that they have never experienced. If you think the only thing he has done is beat our tigers you are sadly mistaken and blind. Heck he recognition he brought alone to the school is unprecedented for them

you list some good things but it only reinforces the little

brother sydrome, for all that and you are still infatuated with us. But, has he taken y'all to a BCS bowl? That's one he won't be able to do, you're either BCS material or you're not. It takes more than a couple of "flash in the pan" years.

Re: you list some good things but it only reinforces the little

Regardless of what you think we have been top 10 in BCS 3 years in a row, only thing keeping us out is the SEC as only two teams are allowed to go. If we had been in ACC we would have been to 3 BCS games with those rankings.

Yes there is a downside to being in the SEC, but I am fine with it.

Oh yeah along with what the above poster posted. We have been in the top 25 without missing a week longer than any team in the history of the state of SC. That includes Clemson in the 80's.

We have accomplished similar feats

I tell you what the Washington stint was the best thing that happened to him

it humbled a jerk and made him realize what he was in the past. I hear interviews now talking about being in the state of SC and being close to grandkids etc. This isn;t the guy from Fla and maybe due to his teams not being as good as those back at Fla

He probably loves the fact that every coach after him has been a debacle at Washington too

If you think not being in a BCS bowl is because South Carolina is not good enough that just shows you the fact is the SEC is much harder conference than the ACC. There is only one team in the ACC in the top ten and only 2 in the top 25 and one of them is DUKE with two BCS spots available. The SEC has 4 teams inside the top 10 and 7 inside the top 20 with only 2 BCS bowl spots available. If the BCS were given out to the best teams you can bet a #12 Clemson would not be going. So to think South Carolina fans care about the BCS other than the Championship game is laughable at best!

The SEC is a self-fulfilling prophecy

[2]
Posted: Dec 16, 2013 10:41 PM

You try to act like the reason SEC teams are constantly in the top 10 is soley based on talent. While many SEC schools are good, what about the fact that EVERY SEASON they are always in the pre-season top 10 and will still stick around in the top 25 even with 4 losses. and why? BECAUSE EVERY OTHER TEAM THEY PLAY IS IN THE TOP 10 ALREADY DUE TO PRESEASON BS. So if the only people you're playing are also in the top 10 (unfairly), then OF COURSE you're going ot stick around. Why shouldn't Duke get any respect? They've won 10 games in a power conference. It's not like the ACC is the MAC or anything.

It's hard to win 10 games no matter what conference

I hate when people try to say that just because the ACC teams aren't quite up to par with some other conferences that it should completely discount a 10 win season. People, it's not like this is the Mountain West. These are still power conference teams that have big recruiting bases.

And besides, the ACC has more bowl eligible teams than any other conference right now. It's not like the SEC doesn't have cupcake teams. Florida? Kentucky? Arkansas? Miss St.? Vanderbilt? Tennessee? Yeah, they're a bunch of powerhouses.

And why the FCS Schools? Doesn't everyone else in the country play FCS schools?

To the guy calling people idiots for saying who we played. Mizzou isn't from the west. They are east. Second off, your body of work was no better than south Carolina's. Obviously we ended higher ranked and ahead of you even in the computers. Bad loss and all. Third thing, if we didn't lose to Tennessee and we won out, then won in the sec championship, where would we be? BCSCG, if we lost, capital one or cotton, the exact same place we were in anyway. Orange bowl made it's decision based on a lot of different things, but your body of work was not one of them.
