For some reason, your VERY UNREASONABLE prediction conjures up a score from the past- how about USC 70 A&M 33
Such sweet numbers.

Aggies 56 Coot 6
you so see that that the coots lost to Florida in 2008..coach was SOS. You lost by 50 and you want to make fun of Clemson losing 70-33..we lost but it was by 37.
And I am being nice..I could have used 63-17..do the math

My prediction has no basis in reality...I pretty much just made the numbers up. Neither team has played yet, so I have no idea how good either of them are. I cannot name a single player who plays for Texas A&M.
That said, YOU CAN TAKE THAT PREDICTION TO THE BANK!!!!

SC 34- ATM 27
Aug 25, 2014, 11:12 AM
|
|
I think it might be closer than people are saying because I think ATM's offense will still be pretty good while USC's defense won't be very good. On the other hand, I don't know if ATM's defense has improved enough at this point (despite some analysts saying they'll be a big surprise) to shut USC down.

South Carolina 22, A&M 17. The game will be ugly as sin.
South Carolina always looks like crap Week 1...which annually inspires a great deal of glee among us Clemson faithful about how this year South Carolina is ready to fall off a cliff.
Mind, Spurrier always then pulls a horseshoe or two out of his butt and wins the game anyway...and then they look way, way better the next week as he figures out what he's got. Spurrier has never really had a ton of talent at South Carolina, especially on the offensive side of the ball...but Spurrier does not need a great deal of talent on offense. You can make an argument Spurrier is the greatest play-caller in the history of college football. Like him or hate him, the man is that good.
And the Aggies' D is weak, weak, weak. Spurrier will find a way to get to it eventually, however ugly...and with the Aggies replacing Manziel, WR Mike Evans, and OT Jake Long, I don't see them being particularly effective on offense...not on the road, and not against South Carolina's D, which is fairly formidable. In terms of scheme and tempo, nobody will confuse the Aggie O with the likes of Auburn under Gus Malzahn...or Clemson under Chad Morris.
South Carolina will win no style points in this one...but they'll win - unless the replacements for that trio A&M lost are just way more capable than anybody expects. Getting South Carolina in Billy Brice in a long-distance Thursday night game for the opener is just about the worst possible start for Texas A&M's new starters.
Give our Coot brethren some credit. Their program is as good as it's ever been, right now...and Spurrier is one of the top five college coaches of all time.

You're an idiot if you think Spurrier hasn't had any talent on the offensive side of the ball.

I love civil disagreements. And you're wrong.
He hasn't had a ton of talent, sorry. He's won with the likes of Stephen "Achilles" Garcia and Connor Shaw at QB. Shaw was underrated, mind, but he's still a 6-foot guy who did not have Tajh Boyd's cannon arm or 230 pounds when he decided to slash between the tackles...but Shaw still posted All-SEC numbers. He beat us two years ago with Shaw's backup, Dylan Thompson - in Death Valley, in Thompson's first start.
He's had some good wideouts, especially Alshon Jeffrey, and Bruce Ellington wasn't bad either...though B.E. tumbled huge in the draft because there was a great deal of concern in NFL circles that he was another classic Spurrier receiver - somebody who generated huge numbers in college because Spurrier schemed him open but maybe wasn't near as talented as his highlight reel indicated.
Lattimore was a very good RB...before his leg almost fell off. It didn't slow the offense down. Mike Davis is a very good RB (who we slow-played because we had other RB's on our boards rated higher) probably about as good as James Davis was for us...which translates into probably a 6th-round grade in the NFL draft.
They have had NOTHING resembling Clemson's recent fleet of NFL wideouts, though, and nobody would confuse those RB's with CJ Spiller or Andre Ellington, or Dwayne Allen at TE.
Their OL is huge...but for the most part, especially early in Spurrier's tenure, it was composed of guys a lot of teams passed on - including Clemson. Brandon Shell is the only true blue-chip they've signed there in recent memory - Clifton Geathers in '07 had pedigree, but a lot of teams passed on him because he was a very, very passive kid who just wasn't that interested in football, and preferred to hunt and fish than lift weights. We passed on OT Kyle Nunn, for instance, because our coaching staff thought he moved like Lurch from The Addams Family, but he started at USC - and did well, despite his athletic limitations - for three years! We passed on TE's like Foxy Foxworth and Justice Cunningham despite the fact that they tried incredibly hard to lobby their way into Clemson because they couldn't break a 5-flat 40 even with lit bottle rockets taped to their butts. Spurrier turned around and murdered us with them.
Talent for talent, player for player, they haven't been nearly as talented as Clemson on offense the last few years. Spurrier doesn't let that stop him.

I say half the players and fans pass out from the 98 degree heat and humidity. Coots will pull it out at home again thanks to the polluted air that reigns supreme in Cola. Only they are use to it.

I think ole Spurrier will pull this one out of the bag: SC 31 TAMU 14, mostly with Thompson going airborne.
Following will be a massive influx of chickens onto TigerNet, most of whom will hang around long enough to see the outcome of our game with UGA.

TAMU wins, and here's why...

Because South Carolina is MASSIVELY overrated.
Last season, only 22 points separate their 12-2 record from a 7-6 record (I say 7-6 because I think if they had that record they would not have gotten a bowl invite). They were beaten by 5-7 Tennessee and almost lost to 4-8 Florida. Beat a 2-10 Kentucky team by only 7 points AT HOME.
That was with Shaw and Clowney both on the roster, both of which are gone now.
Their luck runs out this year.
