People seem to have forgotten Spurrier

Dec 3, 2013, 10:10 AM

threatened to quit in 2007 if the academic standards at usuc weren't lowered.
Lets see that was 6 years ago and they have now won 5 in a row. How is the university proud of what they accomplished?

Hard to lower very low standards but you may be

Dec 3, 2013, 10:12 AM

Really, which player at USC who is eligible thru the NCAA would not be allowed at Clemson? Not a one, but if you believe it and it makes you feel better then hope it helps.

That's just 2 prominent. I'm sure that there are others.

You are absolutely wrong. Now you can pat yourself on the back and say you wouldn't have taken those 2 but you are dead wrong. But again, if it makes you feel better.

They both would be suited up and playing if they had chosen Clemson and you are fooling yourself if you think they wouldn't.

You must have Clown like comprehension skills.***

Ok Costanza. Like George told Jerry, it's not a lie if you believe it. Again, if that makes you feel better I am glad you have that going for you but you are wrong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, you do. You still have no idea what your answer

Dec 3, 2013, 10:28 AM

should be. Now, mr ####. Slow down and read my op again.

I tried to guide him back on course. No luck.***

you're "sure" you say?

Tell us more facts, please. Or just continue to speculate, wish, and be in denial that the good and bad and questionable things happen or don't happen AT EVERY SCHOOL.

Spurrier also started out 1-3 against Clemson. 5 in a row sucks but it can change fast.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you also have to keep in mind that he personally pays every

commit they get.... it's been proven..

Spurrier writes a personal check to every player on a weekly basis.

He also allows them to pet-sit his hamsters... another NCAA violation

are you serious Clark?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

my name is not Clark....

Dec 3, 2013, 10:27 AM

yes, I'm serious... My local bank routinely posts the carbon copy of the checks just to #### Clemson fans off.

True story

Here's a short article on ESPN in 2007 about it

Yeah, he got them to "dumb it down" a little. Guess that
shows how badly the AD and prez wanted to keep him and
apparently whose calling the shots down there; sold out
to the OBC.

Excuses, excuses, and wait! How about some more excuses! Half of the Tiger fans on this board are saying that the better athletes, coached by better coaches, lost the game because of mistakes. I guess now the other half is trying to convince everyone that SC lowers their standards, or cheats in recruiting, to get the better players that won the game. Let's all get on the same page with our excuses, OK?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not making excuses; just showing what he did

Dec 3, 2013, 11:09 AM

and they let him. If you remember, that's why SC got out
of the ACC about 40 years ago - academic standards and
pressure from McGuire. A lot of SC players, Clowney
included, would probably had to have gone to prep school.
So should we just lower standards to get "SEC" type
players? Why not, then we can be a Thug U too.

No player ever has to go to Prep school unless he cannot meet the minimum NCAA standards. Has nothing to do with individual university policies or requirements.
