Field temperature

I read in the T-Net article about the field temp reaching 150*F Saturday. My dad heard something similar in Charlotte on Sunday. Yet I can't find anything to corroborate that temp. 150 is literally impossible. Even the pavement on nascar tracks don't reach that temperature

That said, if the field temp was 105 with the dew point as high as it was I bet the heat index was around 115

The hottest air temp ever recorded was 134 in Death Valley in the desert. I am sure some asphalt that day could reach 150 degrees. That said, there is absolutely no way the field in Charlotte was 150. It would be brutal enough at 105 though.

I imagine asphalt in the Middle East can and does reach way over 150.

Around here I think 145 is max. Still hot enough to burn dog paws and feet.

No way that it was 150 on Saturday. Someone reversed 2 digits.

105 is most likely the correct temp. 150 is probably a typo. That turf is brutal in hot temps esp in the south. Our friend played soccer on the turf at Irmo high back in May and she said their cleats were melting and some of the girls actually had blisters on their feet from the field temp. Add in that it was already close to 90 and in/near Cola...had to feel like the doorway to hell!

Heat some water up to 150 degrees and pour it on your hand

It certainly could have gotten up 150 degrees in a glass jar sitting on a table on the field, but not the field itself.

scald you. That being said, the ground can get hot enough to do damage. One of my worst childhood memories is from my bare feet being blistered from hot dirt helping a local surveyor pull measurements. That forever after taught me the value of shoes on a hot day. :(
