Gotta love it!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It may be a nice thing to do but it may have hurt their team

Oct 29, 2016, 12:43 AM [ in reply to brought two to mine ]

This is a cross country race where the top 5 runners on each team matter. If the Louisville runner, or the Clemson runner were in the top 5 on their team, than they hurt their team.

I understand that the BC runner was hurting...but that is what training staffs are for. The Clemson runner wasn't dragging the runner away from an oncoming bus...she was helping her finish a race. ...Not sure what that has to do with sportsmanship

Did the Clemson football team help South Carolina St. into the end zone because they just couldn't do it?... Was that unsportsmanlike? ... of course not. If they had, would we have commended their sportsmanship? ... of course not.

So again, if these girls were outside of the top 5 on their team...than it made no difference...but if they were scoring runners, than this isn't sportsmanship, they hurt their team

I think it makes a HUGE difference in what ultimately matters the most.

It sure is a good thing you know those facts before

Oct 29, 2016, 12:06 PM [ in reply to It may be a nice thing to do but it may have hurt their team ]

coming to your conclusion. Have you any idea whether they were top 5? Did you have any idea before pooping all over the story?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That'll be Ol' APM in 2 weeks at the Richmond 26.2.

Oct 28, 2016, 1:30 PM

That said, I contend with the use of the words "helps". More like "drags".

The ACC needs to send this to Sports Center ASAP. This is class to the highest extent. Clemson and the whole conference should be quite proud.

Go Tigers!

Re: FB Update: MUST SEE: Clemson runner helps injured rival cross finish line

Oct 29, 2016, 6:41 AM

it shows no class to send the video to sports center... Clemson athletics should not brag about this... bragging about it takes away from the kindness of the act.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

wow..didn't tear up when i read it

I know that same feeling man, I have choked many times trying to read some of our heart felt stories about some heroic things that Clemson or Clemson students have done for others. If there is another compassionate school like Clemson out there, I'm sorry but, I just haven't heard of them yet!!!

Clemson athletes are Champions

Oct 28, 2016, 2:12 PM

and she just proved it.

Go Tigers!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Clemson athletes are Champions

Oct 28, 2016, 2:18 PM

It isn't always about the win, there has to be those times when compassion plays a bigger part over winning, and Clemson people are always those that will step to the front on being compassionate!!! That's only bc we are a family with our doors kept open to create a larger family!!! That girl will remember that for the rest of her life, and her story will be told many times in her life. Go Tigers, we are the best!!!

Re: Incredible sportsmanship

Oct 28, 2016, 3:03 PM

This is exactly what should be shown on all sports and news channels. Such an incredible act of sportsmanship and kindness. Both the Clemson and Louisville runners who helped the BC runner should be viewed as true role models. Proud Tiger!!!

Oct 28, 2016, 10:19 PM

It may be illegal to help a competitor, however, it takes a lot of gumption to help a wayward friend. Think those folks will ever meet again in life???

Go Tigers!!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's usually illegal to assist a teammate. Not a rival.

Oct 29, 2016, 12:08 PM [ in reply to Touching! But isn't it illegal to be carried to finish line ]

If you notice near the end of the video, you can see other BC competitors watching instead of helping...they knew that if they helped, it would DQ them all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's what Clemson is all about

There's an EMT right at the finish line waiting for them***

she is definitely a compassionate young lady when it comes to thinking about others in need of help...It's evident judging by what she did and safe to say she has had some pretty good upbringing from her parents

Did the Louisville runner complain that we moved the finish line?

Oct 29, 2016, 6:24 AM

No seriously, that was very nice.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: FB Update: MUST SEE: Clemson runner helps injured rival cross finish line

Oct 29, 2016, 8:00 AM

That is very cool of both women!

Did anyone else find it weird that they basically had to drag the BC girl 20 yards but then at the end of the clip the BC girl is standing up and gives our girl a hug?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why is that unusual?

Oct 29, 2016, 12:09 PM

"Video editing". Obviously there's some time between the two clips

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Take another look.. That was a different BC runner

Oct 29, 2016, 1:41 PM [ in reply to Re: FB Update: MUST SEE: Clemson runner helps injured rival cross finish line ]

The girl that was helped across the finish line was still being worked on by EMT's. For an instant, you can see the EMT still kneeling on the ground far left of screen.
The girl that hugged our Clemson runner was a BC teammate, also much taller, I think she was BC's number 12.
GO TIGERS!!!

Re: FB Update: MUST SEE: Clemson runner helps injured rival cross finish line

Oct 29, 2016, 8:44 AM

Years from now, us fellow TIGERS will remember this class act. We need to remember that sports are only a small fraction of what LIFE is all about. That act of kindness goes way beyond sports - or who won or lost that day. We are CLEMSON - and we conduct ourselves accordingly. Kudos to these ladies.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Classy move but also notice her strength.

Oct 29, 2016, 11:21 AM

I see at least one more girls that fell and struggles to the finish line yet the Clemson girl has enough strength to carry about 90% of the fallen girls weight. Very impressive conditioning to be able to give that much assistance at the end of a race.

Keep it up girls!
