why all the hopeless negativism??

I posted earlier today about there finally being some flicker of hope in all of this mess. Many folks don't tend to agree. I don't really understand. Case rate growth is going down pretty much across the board. I have kept track of the mind numbing numbers since march, and this is the best that the Union has been in terms of negative growth rates in three months.
I suppose our football fate is now in the hands of 5 to 25 year olds who are now heading back to school. With little to no spikes over the next three weeks, we should be good to go for football.
If folks keep up with distancing and face coverings, I am very hopeful that the Tigers kickoff in mid-September.
Is this just wishful thinking?

I said the same thing. The negatives now need to go away. The ball is about ready to be kicked. Anyone being negative needs to just not watch the Tigers and do something else like maybe knit or something. Better yet, if you want to be negative all the time, Be a Coot fan. That should keep you happy being sad gor years to come!

Typically, I am a pessimist and cynical. But, I am actually optimistic about the ACC, SEC, and Big XII, et. al. moving forward with fall football.

I don't think it's a question of "hopeless negativism.I think it's more a question of "not knowing what to expect" come fall when students/student athletes are expected to return to school,and whether or not the case rate will rise when cooler/colder weather appears,or if another strain of the virus develops,will there be an effective vaccine,what will Joe do if elected,which schools will opt out,or players for that matter.
There are just to many unknown factors for anything positive,or negative to influence the decision to play ,or not.
And I'm just trying to be "realistic" without getting my hopes up.

that when the coeds get on campus, the testosterone spikes are going open up the team to exposure. the best we can hope for is that the boys in the bubble will ignore the human nature of 17-23 year old young men and stay in the bubble... that's not negativism but a realistic perspective of boys will be boys with willing and able young ladies...
ain't no social distancing or face coverings in the two torso tango...
