when you're dancing around celebrating Dabo's Natty
Dec 23, 2015, 10:04 AM
|
|
talking about "we" did this and "we" did that,
when you're crowing about what it's like to be a "Clemson man",
when you're singing along and cloaking yourself in that something "special in those hills"
when you're fumbling over your phone in a hurry to call your buddy with the news of the latest decootment, Coot arrest, Coach escape from Columbia under the cloak of darkness, or all three,
when you're talking about "our" FB coach's integrity when you talk about Clemson's scholastic rating,
when you're talking about "our" FB players' maturity when you hear about something one has done in the greater society,
when you're bragging about how 5*'s all want to come to be part of Clemson's "family",
when you're simply riding around with your Paw flags fling on your car,
stop for a minute and reflect where you were and how you "represented" Clemson
when things were tough on the basketball team and their coaching staff.
Were you calling for a firing in blood, a termination to salve your pride,
were you posting ad nauseum of the bleak negativity around the program and your perceived "need" for job changes,
were you positioning yourself as apart, above, and possibly better than, more deserving even, than "our" coach and his team,
or were you adding to what is actually "special" in those hills?
Just checking...

or just assured of your right to call for someone's head in public?
People act like they act;
or to paraphrase Tom Hanks, "Class is as class does".
The point is simple -
make comments all you want about strategy, improvement, game management, et al
but put your "calls for a firing" in a letter to the AD.
Those aren't for public consumption
and do Clemson no good when they are aired in public.
it's an easy thing really...

In big time college sports doesn't understand what is expected when they sign on.. It's also not as if he is doing this coaching gig as a volunteer. "To much is given, much is expected." Your indignation at those of us who dare celebrate "our" football glory while no one appreciates "our" basketball team's effort is preposterous! As Dabo knows, the fun is in the winning. Take your "holier than thou" Bullsh!t elsewhere.

Been a fan of BB from day one,but it's hard to believe that he will get the job done. We have progressively gotten worse in the last 3 years it so. I'm not gonna sit here and bash him or the team. It is clear that they are working hard to win and I love that. We'll just have to see what the future holds. I will continue to show my support. GO TIGERS!!!!!

the guy and want the best for him, it just has become painfully obvious that he will not succeed here at Clemson. He cannot bring in talent. It's that simple.
T-Net is a thought sharing place for fans both ecstatic and disgruntled. Just because people are calling for his firing does not mean that we are tarnishing the Clemson brand.

I think that Purnell recruited pretty well...
Dec 23, 2015, 12:50 PM
|
|
Stitt, Jerai Grant, Ogelsby, James Mays, Cliff Hammonds, Andre Young, Trevor Booker, K.C. Rivers etc.
Just to name a few names. For as much as we hated on Ogelsby, he could shoot the heck out of that 3-ball. We miss that now. We haven't consistently made threes since Andre Young left.

Purnell never won a ACC title and only 1 NCAA game....
Dec 23, 2015, 1:23 PM
|
|
the supposed "success" we had during those years is wildly overstated, primarily because Purnell did generally improve each year. However, those around the program will note that while he left a good team for Brownell's first year, the recruiting trail had gone cold to some degree, and those recruits that were in house as Freshmen never panned out.
Still, OP's record is one period of solid Clemson basketball -
and I'll be the first to admit that Brownell has yet to attain the same level of success.

He handed Brownell Marcus Thornton, GA Mr. Basketball. It isn't OP's fault that Brownell couldn't convince him to stay.
OP's success is not wildly overstated. We have played for the ACC title twice - he was the coach for one of them. He had us ranked for parts of 4 seasons. During his tenure, we were named one of the toughest places to play. In his last 2 years we ran Duke, UNC, and Maryland out of the gym. He made our program nationally relevant and respected. Now we're a laughing stock who gave $5 mil to a coach for 3 NIT wins a year after his team quit on him.

Just let me tell you something:
Dec 23, 2015, 12:23 PM
|
|
I finished Clemson in December of 1966. I am a letterwinner (football manager 1962-65). I have lived through all the lean years in pick a sport..I pull for Clemson. Not a coach but for my school. We have had coaches I have been proud of - Dabo is a prime example. Some not so much. Never in as long as I can remember have I bashed anything about my school or the students who wear the Purple and Orange. Go tigers. as the old bumper sticker used to say "I'd rather live 50 years like a Tiger than 100 years like a chicken"

voice your "opinion" all you want.
Calling for someone's job is inappropriate, and not an "opinion", it's a "slur".
Most of you don't have the appropriate knowledge to really have an "opinion" about a Div 1 BBall coach
but the Board allows for it anyway.
Still there has to be some decorum here...
You want to call for someone's job, then send it in a letter to the AD -
he's the one who makes that decision.

so you're proud of how Clemson and its fans handled Bowden?
Dec 23, 2015, 2:22 PM
|
|
lol....
we were just dang lucky, that's all,
and, as a group, Clemson fans basically just showed their arses during the whole affair.
It appears that even with the sterling example of "class" set by our Football Coach and his program
some "fans" still haven't graduated much in their maturity level since Bowden left.
And you are right about one thing - you don't work for me.
But your voice isn't any more important than mine is either;
so you want to bash a Coach and his family,
I'll bash your little arrogance.
