national championship?

in the past it has been baseball, golf, mens and womens tennis at different points, while football wasn't really close.

this is the first time since when? The late 80's?

I'm not totally sure how to interpret this post. Since I don't consider CLEMSON close to a NC in football, maybe you just mean that the other sports are way down, and football isn't. I guess that's what you meant.

As for being 'close' to a NC in FB, I don't see that. Maybe if we can win the ACC, and then not get humiliated by an underdog. Or maybe if we could beat our in-state rival for a change. Or maybe if we could just blow some team off the field instead of struggling the entire contest. Or...
