what's the deal with the disparity in the rankings?

I always considered the baseball rankings to be a little more consistent and unbiased than football or basketball... is that not the case?

time a lower conference[non Power 5ish] team did that in basketball, much less football?

Baseball seems far more difficult and the starting point, preseason, much harder to value.

I think one week in it's still heavily reliant on preseason expectations. Baseball America was really high on Clemson preseason (No. 12) and D1Baseball was probably a little more skeptical on the pitching staff, didn't rank Clemson preseason.

D1Baseball has a pretty small staff (or at least they did last year before they started charging you to even check scores on their website which sent me to the hills) so their “rankings” are contingent on the opinions of a few.
