If you honestly think Brent is going to give up the chance to coach Jake

To a national championship in college for Arkansas then you're insane.
Enjoy Venables while he lasts. He will be gone soon...but not this year.

He might hold out for Bill Synder to retire at K-State as that is his Alma Mater and lord knows the Big 12 needs defense

Much better positioned to win being in the east and closer toward recruiting hotbeds in southeast.
I don't understand why people keep portraying this notion as if Arkansas is one can't miss job.
Other than the increase in $ that comes with transitioning from a coordinator to a head coach, I'm struggling to see what elevates them as a desirable and premier coaching opportunity.
Venables is no dummy. He isn't going to leave a rising dynasty with his son mere months away from getting on campus for freaking Arkansas.
You can take that to the bank. He will do what any wise coach would do and that is leverage the perception or widespread opportunities for a greater paycheck from Clemson.
And he deserves every penny. Now if we were talking Texas A&M I would have been much, much more concerned.

I think it would take something special, maybe K-State if personally offered by Snyder, his mentor. He isn't the kind of guy to just jump at the first decent offer, and this certainly isn't his first. It tore him up having to leave Norman, and he was having second thoughts as late as the plane ride over after having agreed in principle, according to Coach V himself. It makes sense for his reps to answer calls and talk to suitors, and that's all this is.

I’m guessing Jake and the entire family would also move there. Jake would play for whatever school BV coaches. Jake has not signed with us yet.

... because the conversation goes like this:
"Son, I know you want to play for the University you grew up watching me coach, and play for multiple Nattys with all the other talent on the roster, in next year's class. But we gotta go put out the dumpster fire down there in the middle of no where SEC west..."
Then they bust out laughing and laughing
and laughing ... and laughing.

No. Thinking he'd pass on the job, and forego yanking his kid from our squad destined for more greatness!
What part indicated I thought he'd take the job? However, if he did, BV would be very good at rebuilding.

BV with his Clemson and Okie Pedigree plus Nat Champ experience can take a true Tier 1 program. BV is far superior to the likes of Arky's past coaches Bilema and Petrino.
BV is more like a perennial top 25 coach prospect if he plays his cards right.

He may go. He's earned it if he does. We'll be fine. Doesn't he also have a son in high school? That could be the bigger issue. Do you want to pull him away from his friends, teammates, etc.? Tough decision.

He's been pretty adamant in the past that he's not moving his family. Think he might have a younger daughter too.
