Re watching the game. And what the hell was with putting nobody back on punts?

And allowing 60-70 yard punts? We can't have this moving forward

The alignment that SCAR was using

gives the punt team an advantage for a fake punt. Punt safe with no return man prevents the easy fake.

Needed to figure that out and put one man deep.***

Minus the turnovers. Our offense was moving the ball almost at will. Or DW was rather. So it didnt matter if we started from our own 1 yard line. Between that and our less than desirable return game i don't see a problem with the call

Absolutely made tactical sense in the short term ...

Nov 29, 2015, 10:01 PM

... our main concern in the SCAR game on punts was guarding against some trick play that would extend a SCAR drive.

We knew that as long as we got them off the field and got the ball back, it didn't matter much where we started a drive.

But, so much for "tactics" ...

Strategically, I totally agree with those who say that our entire punt return team is in drastic need of overhaul and improvement.

Re: We Lost About 20 Yards Of Field Position on every punt!

Nov 29, 2015, 10:09 PM

I can"t believe that Dabo was ok with this!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Once again ... tactically, it made sense.

Nov 29, 2015, 10:12 PM

You're suddenly faced with a completely unorthodox punt formation you've never seen before that just screams "fake punt" and you do what you have to do to make sure they punt the ball to you.

I absolutely think that the coaches would not want to have that happen game after game, but in the short term, it served a legitimate purpose and cost us nothing offensively.

I get nervous as hell every time we have to field one

Suited me just fine.
