Agree. Absolutely did not have to hit the receiver in the helmet. Had plenty of time not to. That was a very pivotal play, against us.

By rule it's targeting.

Problem is it's not called consistently. I saw Bama do a worse helmet to helmet on a UF kick return, blatant I mean blatant targeting, helmet to helmet...causes fumble. No flag...not even a mention. There was another non call in that game near goal line.

So if we play Bama again one could argue that our players have been encouraged to play differently based on how they've been officiated when "tackling".

Therefore the refs become a factor.

That call has got to go. No reff uses any common sense when calling it. I mean its obvious he wasn't trying to hit with his helmet.
