Toll charges

Feb 10, 2017, 8:09 AM

Just curious- Did other Tiger fans received toll road charges from Florida? Don't recall seeing toll road designation but got tab for $3.03!

I got one for the same amount, and am pissed. I actually had to pay 50c more for one toll because the machine didn't count my change correctly. And i paid every toll. Total bull that they said i didn't.

They say they can keep you from registering your license plate next time if you don't pay. Can they do that out of state?

I got hit this summer around DC and I don't remember but one toll booth(which I paid). They sent me a letter and changed me $18 for missing two tolls and a $15 fine.

That sounds like a scam.

There really is a scam going on here. My work has been charged a number of times for tolls we have paid. They take a picture of your license plate and send it to you explaining how you did not pay a toll. If it is an unmanned booth, you are out of luck. If there is a person there, get a receipt.

We have even been charged for tolls when we have bought he toll pass. It is just crazy.

Tolls are a complete scam from the git go. We already pay our taxes to pay for new roads and maintenance. So, why should we ever have to pay tolls to drive on roads we already paid to build?!
Tolls are a major ripoff.

We got charged also. Around $3 but then the rental car also had a $3.95 convenience fee. I called the rental car company and told them that we had paid all of the tolls with cash. I told them I wasn't so worried about the money but wanted to know how to prevent getting double charged in the future. They first said that maybe the booth didn't count our change correctly but I told them that these were booths with people. They somehow confirmed that the 2 booths were manned by people. Then they credited my charges. It appears that the cameras are charging even if you pay!

toll even when responding to a fire in our agencies vehicles. They have sent my agency fines/tolls twice so I now go the long way around.

If they got your Tag Picture going thru a Toll then -

Feb 10, 2017, 12:53 PM [ in reply to Re: they have cameras that take pictures of your license plates ]

You should probably just pay it for $3.03 or whatever the amount if multiple violations. Lots of toll roads around the State of FL. Especially in the Orlando Area. The fines and penalties will eventually get very costly. I wound up buying a Sunpass transponder even though I probably only go to FL twice a year. I just put it on the sun-visor and it deducts off my balance. When it gets below $10.00 it adds $15.00 back via credit card. And if you put your tag number(s) even if you do not have a transponder it deducts off that also. with no penalty. Just a thought. If you did not go through a toll then stand your ground. Good Luck!

One time in Orlando we got off a toll road at night with screaming kids in the car on the way to Disney. It was an unmanned, exact change only booth that did not take credit cards. We spent about a minute scrounging around the car for exact change, cars started honking, ended up getting a $30 fine. Racket.

I was the DD in Tampa

Feb 10, 2017, 10:26 AM

I noticed a flash while driving us back to the hotel north of Tampa Sunday night. I knew a pic had been taken of the car, so I increased my vigilance and a few miles later noticed a structure over the road and saw another flash as we passed under it. I knew I wasn't speeding. Then I started noticing some signs next to the road, something about a toll. A few miles later another flash, and a few miles later another. I told my brother to be on the lookout for a bill from the state of Florida in the near future since we were driving his car.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you drove from Orlando to Tampa...

Feb 10, 2017, 11:10 AM

or vise versa, there are between six and eight toll stops each way. Each toll ranges from $1.00 to $1.25.

Yes, I was charged nearly $4. I wondered if there were more charged as well.

Do you mind sharing what roads you drove on, and where you were coming from? Does the toll bill say where the toll was located? In Tampa somewhere? Something that you hit on the way down/back?
