was the game so boring that the crowd needed to entertain themselves with the stupid wave? Let's the leave the crowd narcissism to fanbases like Maryland (which is probably where we copied the slow wave from, as I saw them do it 6 or 7 years ago).

It's all about drawing attention to yourself, since you apparently don't have a long enough attention span to be entertained by the guys on the field. It's like giving the players the middle finger.
Maybe it's ok for young children and drunk chics to do, though. You know, the casual fans.

The wave is more about building on the atmosphere ! A great atmosphere encourages the players in my opinion. I suppose you prefer to sit on your hands and occasionally yell negative comments.

I am 38 and loved all three waves. And to make it even better my 10 and 7 yr old boys loved it even more.
