someone needs to Maryland to get a better attorney

In its attempt to get out of the 50M+ in exit fee to the ACC, they are suing the ACC for the ACC's attempt to poach the BIG for 150M+.
There is something called contract. Mayrland you signed a paper that stated if you decide to exist, you have to pay a fine to the ACC. I am sure that there is nothing in the contract that states the ACC has no right to recruit from other leagues.
I don't understand but I know that just legal BS and Mayrland is just trying to delay the obvious.

Maryland are the ones that decided to exist the ACC last year. However, I believe the year before, all 12 schools signed an agreement where it states there will be a fee of 50M+ if a school decides to leave the ACC. I believe Maryland signed the agreement and they are trying now all these sorry tactics to just reduce the 50M+ fee. They have to pay it and I don't see a way out of it.

I was making a joke between the difference in "exist" and

"exit." The appropriate word is exit but you keep saying exist. Never mind that...
There is a lot more to it than just signing a contract.

I think there is some argument over whether or not the ACC violated its own bylaws when raising the exit fee. I'm not going to pretend to understand what all of that means, but that is what I remember reading somewhere.

It was a 10 - 2 votes of the conference membership - FSU and MD voted against the increase

Go read the pleadings. It appears that Maryland may have a pretty good basis for dismissal of the underlying suit if the ACC ignored notice requirements and enforcement dates as required in their constitution/bylaws. Maryland's argument appears to be that the ACC is trying to enforce a provision against Maryland that was not properly adopted and even if it was, did not take effect until after they withdrew from the conference.
