It's understandable that you guys would have difficulty understanding the behavior of fans who are actually proud of their conference. After all, the only thing you read on this board is how much the ACC blows and how badly it holds you guys back.

cheering the conference....It's usually the also-rans, who wish they were top teams and believe they are Cinderellas....Until the clock strikes midnight, that is, and they're brought back into the reality of their own mediocrity.

True that! I just wonder if that chanting belongs to the "chicken or the egg first" (pun definitely intended, LOL!) category? Do the also-rans and mid-level SEC teams chant because they have such a sweet TV deal, loads of payout cash, and the highest national prestige? Conversely, do they have those benefits and advantages because of their SEC solidarity and knowledge that people equals power in the entertainment industry? If the latter is true, then the genuine "evil genius" of the SEC is not Spurrier, but Mike Slive, and his crystal ball (again, pun intended).
