He'd rather see the field as a true freshman for a 4-win doormat than contend for titles and hone his craft over time at the premier NFL WR factory in the country. In other words, he's scared of our depth chart.

Seriously doubt he's scared of the death chart. Scar has him wanted from the start and we haven't simple as that. I hope we end up with the young man.

We led for this kid until July 4th when Higgins committed. I am sure he wants to see the field fast, hate to lose the #1 in SC to the Coots. Looks like we do on this guy. They will now have two stud WRs that wanted to play at Clemson, but if they want to play first year then SC is the easiest path.

I hate it too. coots are getting a few good recruits this cycle and really hitting the instate '18 & '19 players hard too. I hope our staff keeps a good mix of instate kids while still reaping the benefits of a title run and signing national recruits. I really hope they don't get Thomas next yr!!!

This is a recent article, if you read between the lines Ortres mom is sour grapes that he wasn't top priority all the way through with Clemson coaching staff. This is a short sighted decision to be an earlier starter for one of the worst offensive coaches in history. He may be on the field but he won't but putting up big numbers and will have a slim chance to make the NFL at WR at Scar. Just look at all the five stars Mushcamp had at Florida and what happened to them. He may not have been top priority from day one but has the opportunity to go to the best school in the country currently at developing WRs and putting them in the NFL every year. Sad he will turn that down for early playing time without long term reward and a bruised ego.
