mom had a seizure last night and was admitted to the hospital. This is the first seizure she has ever had. It may or may not be related to her stroke. She is herself (well, her new self anyway) and we are waiting for the neurologist to come by, and see what kind of tests they will be running today. Ahhhh, I thought I was done with the hospital!
We are killing time watching Clemson football games on YouTube! We just finished the Oklahoma game and are now on the South Carolina game. (Well, she is now sleeping... I'm watching!)
We are very lucky that the med tech at her assisted living was in her room when she had the seizure, so they were able to call 911 right away.
Please say a prayer for them to figure out why this happened and that no more happen! Thanks.

Lord place your healing hand upon this Tiger mom. Send a legion of angels to minister, protect and encourage her. Give wisdom, skill and knowledge to those that care for her. Send your spirit to the family to strengthen them and give them wisdom to make the right decisions.

Prayers for your mom and especially for you as the caregiver. Unless you have been in that role, most have no idea the emotional roller coaster it can be. While balancing your life and caring for your sweet mother, I know first hand how physically, emotionally and mentally draining it can be.
I also know you wouldn't have it any other way (as far as being the one to care for her,) but believe me I totally understand thinking you're finally at a place where the set-backs aren't happening and you seem to be moving forward, only to experience another set-back. My heart is broken for you.
Just hang on and keep fighting. Prayers for supernatural strength for you and wisdom for those who will be trying to figure out what has exactly happened.

She is fortunate to have a great daughter and family
to look out for her. Hope you tell her you love her
sometimes as i'm sure you do. My mom died 14 months
ago in December '13; i still miss her but have great
memories. I talked to her for about 10 minutes on the
phone the morning before she passed that afternoon.
The last thing i said to her was "I love you Mom".
Looking back, it was like God's plan.
Mom had a great daughter like you (my sister, a nurse)
who took good care of her and helped her with all of her
medical issues and problems, meds, diet, etc. and helped
her live her last years less painfully and more peacefully
though it wasn't always easy. Her birthday would have
been this coming Thursday. Will pray for your Mom and
you and your family; we know she loves and appreciates you.

it turned out that it is very common for stroke survivors to have a post-event seizure. After the 1st seizure my mother had(scariest 4 mins I've ever had...) the hc providers said "oh yes, it is very common to have a seizure afterwards. Typically there will be only 1.) My thought was why didn't anyone tell me this beforehand? Of course I realized why shortly thereafter. My mom has had 3 in the last 10 years following her 2 strokes and her seizure events are all based on too much excitement- quite similar to those fainting goats when surprised. The neurons bordering the damaged area go haywire especially when fright/ surprise due to the dysfunction. Not to presume anything, but in my mother's case we are fortunate and I hope the same for you guys. Seizures can be managed very much so as opposed to other events. Keep us up to date and prayers sent your way!

Thanks for the info. Finally the Neurologist came by today! She said it is likely related to the stroke too, as far as anytime there is damage to our brains a seizure could result. They will do an MRI and EEG to determine course of action... I'm guessing tomorrow since it took all day for the Dr. To see her today!
