I also live in Columbia.

Born into a all gamecock family. Attended Clemson Univerity. Even people here know Columbia is a dump. Just this morning walking into a circle K on forest drive, in Forest Acres and for those of you familiar with Columbia area know Forest Acres is upscale, even here some hood is robbing the place blind. taking things off the shelves and putting them under his jacket he was trying to be all stealthy but didnt fool anyone. We would of of stopped him, but lowlife probably had a weapon.

How "DARE"you say Columbia is a dump! Just think for a moment about the benefits of living in the center of the state. It's in the middle of the state.Easy access in or out(perferrably out). The middle of the state is very hot and dry. Where else could you possibly run into our favorite politican,Nikki Haley walking across the capital grounds. Fried chicken is plentiful. Easy directions for driving around.Just start at Five Points, and you can go any direction on the map.You even have a fifth direction(as in which way is the quickest way to get out of this dump). Need something to do on a boring Saturday when your families favorite football team is playing on the road.Just drive around campus. Most of the students have probably vacated the city because there isn't a game. But I would avoid places like Irmo, and Five Points.

You are an idiot my Tiger comrade.I live in the Irmo area and there is very little crime.Especially strong armed crime.I was raised in Greenville and have lived here for 30+ years.Anyone from the slums of Anderson can't talk trash to me.

Really, you're using IRMO as a representative of the rest of Columbia? That's beyond silly.

Irmo is the best town outside of Columbia..

in the Midlands. Hardly any crime, the best school district in the state, everything place you would need to go to as far as purchasing what you need within a few miles . Irmo is also the hometown of Rodney Williams and Clemson's first black player Marion Reeves. Irmo is Irmo it's completely seperate and different than Columbia . Irmo is the best place to live in the Midlands. For years Irmo Clemson fans have represented big time for Clemson in the midlands. Irmo Clemson fans don't let any coots get away with lame trash talking.

Both are in district 5.They are linked closely. There isn't much crime in Chapin because there isn't anything there too rob.You still shop at the mall in Harbison and eat at the Olive Garden,Outback, and all the other high end Restaurants. You also go to the columbiana Grande theater's.So don't get too high on your horse since we are a stones throw between towns.

Well what is a high end eating establishment for you? Actually,my kitchen is better.I go out only on special events. But for your info, they do have some high price places in the downtown Columbia area but you probably already know that.

i grew up in the neighborhood behind that Circle K

lived there from birth to 18. Mom lives in NW Cola. now off of Harbison Blvd. Everytime I go back and visit i feel like i'm just visiting. It'll never be home again. I'm glad that i grew up there in some ways because it made me streetwise and not naive about life at all. I'm a Richland School District 1 product and I wouldn't trade that either because of the same reasons stated previously. Having said that though, I wouldn't retire back there under any circumstances or reasons. Sad to feel that way about where you grew up but Columbia will do that to you once you get out of there. It's either going to be the Upstate or SF area for me in retirement....both if i can work it. Upstate for football season, SF for the rest of the year.
