The pickings are slim right now. You may luck up and find something close to the dome, but those rooms are very pricey. You may have to venture to the outskirts of Nawlins. I've stayed at the Double Tree - New Orleans Airport in Kenner, Its fairly nice and resonable.

we are staying in Metarie , short drive from the dome, can try there or the airport area, downtown will be crazy with it being new years eve weekend.

Last time I stayed in NOLA, I used AirBnB and got a much better rate than anything at any hotel. I don't know how inflated pricing would be given the NC, but I would certainly check AirBnB. We used that and then Uber'd everywhere around town.
