my humble opinion on the "controversial calls"...

Dec 29, 2019, 7:57 AM

First off, as a fan, if the same calls had gone against clemson, i'd be quite upset.

But, with that said...

On the targeting. It is literally the TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE of targeting. The player launched into the other player with the crown of his helmet. I hate the rule. I hate that a player has to sit out, but thats the rule and it is what it is.

On the scoop and score. The ONLY thing that made this call controversial was the fact that the replay was shown in slow motion. In slo mo, anything can look like a controlled catch. The bottom line, at full speed, this never even was close to a catch. He never had control and never made a 'football' move.

That is all. Go Tigers!

The official in the broadcast booth agrees.

His immediate reaction and final assessment agreed with the call on ALL of the reviewed calls.

I am sure that if that was a first down throw and Clemson had recovered they would have been ok with the call.

I thought about it like this. If Ross was in the end zone they would not have given him that catch.

I think if he had it tucked they would have ruled it a catch, but he was never able to do so.

If it was an endzone "catch" it would have been...

....ruled an incomplete pass and not a TD.
