News and notes from Tuesday's practice

A long-time college coach says the Tigers are a much different team - even in practice - than the one he saw last season. Also, did Sammy Watkins work with the first team Tuesday? And Kevin Steele talks about the freshmen, Malliciah Goodman's emergence. Full Story »

Ellington does run a lot like Terry Allen, both tough, fast and quick. Should be fun to watch him go, we gonna need him to have a big season to take the pressure off of Tajh.

I don't think there is going to be that much presure on Tajh. That kid, his light has come on, and he is ready to take this team to the next level, and he will. If our schedule wasn't so front end loaded, I would say 10/2, 11/1 this season. But I think our best we be 8/4, plus a win in our bowl. Look out coots, (I do believe this)Clemson is going to hand all that sh!t y'all have been talking, back at cha....

So What's the Big Secret?

Aug 9, 2011, 10:27 PM

Who is the coach being referred to? Is it that much of a nobody not worth mentioning?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Danny Ford or Sam Wyche I'm assuming. The article titles

That being said, Go Tigers!

Not Danny

He didn't call them "youngsters"

Sam wasn't a college coach. So I guess we'll never know.***

I know Sam personally, and he told me a couple weeks ago at my cousin's birthday party that Dabo had invited him to practice.

I don't know if it was him or not but it very possibly was.

P.S. To fellow Clemson fans: I think if you are looking for some one who can develop QBs, why not Sam?

Could it be TB?***

Aug 9, 2011, 10:31 PM

about Tigers football since the start of the 2009 season.

Let's get it done boys. We have the tools. We just have to 1) coach well, and 2) execute.

The latter only take preparation and mental focus.

Thanks for the article David!***

words are encouraging, that video isn't

Aug 9, 2011, 11:27 PM

for every highlight catch I saw I saw an equivalent number of pics. and a particularly bad/good one by the safety coming over on a poorly thrown endzone ball.

Tajh's decision making still terrifies me. Maybe the drill was to throw deep balls so who knows but I'm haunted by the meneike bowl that I went too. Still scarred. Go tigers.

haha yeah, thats the tricky thing about these practice vids. its us against ourselves. Im so nervous this year, I really want us to be awesome.

Here's hoping Tajh is the leader and the kid we recruited him to be. I hope we go 12-0.

No offense, but you're nuts. No way we lose two games. Undefeated, I say! Undefeated!

Lucy isn't going to pull the ball away this time!

Six scoring threats on the field at any given time. I rest my case.

I particularly enjoyed that line myself...

I have a pretty good feeling about this year, don't ask me why. The only weaknesses I see are QB and FG Kicker. We lost some big names on defense but I have faith in Steele.

Re: News and notes from Tuesday's practice

Aug 11, 2011, 11:27 AM

*Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said following the practice that Boyd gives the Tigers a threat at quarterback that hasn’t been seen at Clemson in years.

“I know what kind of weapon he is as far as running the football,” Swinney said. “People are going to have to defend him. I wanted our quarterback to be a factor. When you have a quarterback that is a weapon, it is like playing with 12 men and we haven’t done a good job of that. It is almost like defending the option when you play defense, because we have Ellington and those guys, plus they have Tajh. He is going to make a lot of plays that aren’t there. He is 222 pounds and can really run. In a game, you have to tackle that big joker and he will be a weapon for us, throwing and running the ball.”

Ummmm, then why Dabo didn't you put him in last year when Kyle was struggling so much instead of just mop up duty??? Always felt Dabo did a mistake by not giving TB more quality play time last year.
