Anyone know where to find a list of National Championships

Jun 22, 2019, 3:00 PM

by year? Not including all the retroactively awarded/claimed titles? All the lists I find by Google are polluted with selectors who gave titles decades later. Now schools are claiming titles they never claimed at the time. I'd like to know who claimed titles when it was actually happening. A more pure list if you will. Who made a claim at the time rather than, Who makes a claim now.

UGA for instance only has one National Championship. But at some point in the past decade started claiming 1942 illegitimately. Bama '41 and UT '67 are among many other SEC revisions of history.

Don't have a list, but AP titles, then UPI/AP, ~USA, BCS...

Jun 22, 2019, 3:13 PM

and now playoff, seems to be those considered sterling?

I 'magine anything outside those awarded, recognized titles would be "illegitimately-claimed" of sorts, most certainly that garbage UCF tried, because they got their precious feelings hurt - awwwwwwww.

There are shared titles for AP/UPI, GT owns one legitimately.

AP '36-'97
UPI '50-'90,
USA/CNN/ESPN '91-'96/97
BCS '98-'13
CFP '14-present [not sanctioned by NC2A]

Sorry if it doesn't help; don't know that I've rambled upon the list you're hoping to find.

it’s the new SEC tradition. Making their past more glorified

That’s what you do the more irrelevant you become once you’ve been on top and fallen. They all watched Bama get it.

Wasn't until "recent" that ~FWAA/NFF were included...

Jun 22, 2019, 3:57 PM

in that list, even though FWAA's been around since the 40/50s.

Looking back on the long history of championship teams, I’m reminded of the SEC “homers” bragging about that 7 year streak during the BCS period. The Ivy League won championships 30 of 31 years, there was one year that no team was declared a champion. They’ll probably try to claim those years by saying that was the SEC Northern Division at the time.

Keep in mind the AP awarded the championship after the regular season until 1968.

There are a lot of "Champions" that lost their bowl games and would not be considered today.
