More guaranteed money in MLB. On average longer career which means more money. He can and will be an elite CF in the Majors.
Hard to break through w his size at QB in the NFL. He’s small.

You and the other guy hit the nail on the head. Not to mention baseball organizations are more patient and develop guys. They usually don’t try to rush guys because that will do more harm than good.

I don't think there is any guarantee that he will even make it to the majors. If he doesn't make it to the majors they are not going to be paying him mega bucks to play in double or triple A. Certainly, the higher draft choices get many more chances and attention than the lower drafted players, but they are not going to put guys that can't produce on the major league team.

He was taken 9th overall, that came with a $4.66MM signing bonus on top of a 4 year contract.
I think it's safe to say the kid will do fine going the baseball route.

Yes. I know that is a lot of money and he will make a lot more if he makes it to the majors. If he doesn't, how much more could he expect to earn? He will not be on a major league team if he can't perform on a major league level .... period. I'm not suggesting he not play baseball and go to the NFL, just looking at possibilities. I think he would have a bright future in the NFL as there are some very average QB's making tons of money.

If you get that kind of money you should never have to work again even if MLB doesn't work out. I could definitely make that money work.

Around 25 million in total earnings to hold the clipboard. I say that in envy. I've always thought you were the smartest guy in the NFL.

Yep.. So is Drew Brees(NFL's All-time passing yardage leader) 6'0(maybe)... And Russell Wilson 5"10...

Kyler is like 5’8” though and light in the pants. One big defender landing on him and he’s done.

he's got no future in the NFL as a QB. Get what you can out of college football, make your fortune in baseball where he's just as good.

From what i understand he's an elite baseball prospect

as well. I'm not sure Russell was regarded as high as Murray in baseball. And from my knowledge of the NFL...Russell Wilson is an outlier not the standard. Plus guaranteed money is found in baseball and less wear and tear is found in baseball....the list goes on. So when i say he has no future in the NFL i mean his chance at a successful future is baseball far surpasses success in the NFL. Average career span in the NFL is 3 years. Easy decision.

Wilson was an afterthought in baseball. He wasn't even a full time starter at NC State.

Tom Brady makes maybe 20 million this year.
Josh Donaldson is getting 23 million this next season for the Braves. Donaldson is nothing special.

Mmm...Donaldson is better than your average third baseman when healthy. Considering he won an MVP and back to back Silver Slugger awards.

Talking now. He hit something like 15hrs last year and 50rbis. He is a few years out from his great years. Now he is 33 and about to make 23 million. He obviously has potential, but seems overpaid at the moment to me. Then again, baseball pays more. He might even be the highest paid 3b.

that was back when linebackers were 5'8" and weighed 120. we're getting a little bigger every year. i remind my students that when Henry V was alive, the average human was 3 1/2 feet tall and rode around on horses no taller than an office chair. Jesus was 1 1/2 feet tall and used to be able to travel around the Middle East as carry-on luggage.

College ball in the Big 12 is one thing

The NFL is another, very different thing. If he has any sense, he'll stick to the plan and go play MLB after this season is over. He's an elite baseball prospect to the point that the A's paid him a multi-million-dollar signing bonus and still let him play one last season of college football. Stating the obvious here but baseball isn't nearly as hard on the body and the money is better, for longer.

Bo Jackson and Deon Sanders called, and they say suck it up and play both.
But seriously, it is hard to believe there is better money in baseball in this day & age. I am not clear on how their business model makes a profit. I guess they make up the lack of popularity with just sheer volume of games/content.
New rule of content creation: quantity trumps quality in the internet age.
