The Leech hire is weird to me

It seems that the underlying reason for firing Joe Moorhead was more about his "fit" than the wins or losses (though, that certainly had something to do with it).
If Leech has the same record after 2 years, I bet he still has a job.
However, I can't imagine if the administration and fan base didn't like Moorhead, they're going to like Leech. He's got personality in front of the media, sure, but underneath all that, he's as abrasive as they come.

That was not the the only reason. People say he was not a fit for Ms State or that he was mediocre. That was part of it but that was not the number 1 reason he was fired, the #1 reason he was fired he had no control over his players, could not discipline them over the course of the 2019 season. That pushed Ms State over the edge to fire him is what I read. Leach is a weird dude, will be interesting to what the guy does next.

Morehead was 14-12 in 2 seasons, average record 7-6
Leach was 55-47 in 8 seasons, average record 7-6 minus 2 bowl games!

They had to find another eccentric personality to compete with their rival for headlines. It makes a lot of sense from that perspective. I’m surprised he went there.

Living in WA leech was not well lived by most of the coug fan base. He was tolerated because he won at levels they don’t typically see. Pullman is in the middle of nowhere. Impossible to recruit. But leech stretched the rules enough to be successful. He will win MS St but never contend for championships. He doesn’t know what defense is. Not a good person and really not somebody I would want representing my schools football program

Lubbock and Pullman are both football backwaters and the Pirate made it work much better than it should have.
Starkville and the SEC is a different animal with a higher level of scrutiny. Should be fun.
