You'd best believe Pete Buttigieg is on a jet plane...

...for the ATL the second the presidential race is over.
Pete has a Black voter problem, and he needs to rehabilitate that in a hurry if he wants to ever be in contention for the presidency again.
The ATL, on the other hand, has a massive opportunity since the city is going to single-handedly be the epicenter of control of the upcoming battle for the Senate. There's a massive hip-hop community and the city is as Woke and politicized as I've ever seen it, but it's also going to need a guy on the ground to organize things and the Biden camp is going to be busy with the transition.
Enter Mayor Pete, the currently-freelance Everyman face of the white-Millennial DNC. If he could teleport there, Buttigieg would likely be there already. Best guess is him and Common are hanging by this time tomorrow...and Arthur Blank is going to be right there with them, with every celebrity in the USA swooping in for a selfie at some point.
Ordinarily I'd put my money squarely on the GOP for a critical race like this, but there's a Perfect Storm brewing over Georgia right now. This is looking like one of those really interesting historical convergences we might be talking about in 50 or 100 years.

I'm not sure about the Pete part but the rest of the post is pretty good.
I wonder how motivated trump voters will be to vote in the special elections. How effective will the Repugs fear-mongering be (socialism, immigration, rioting & looting)
I think it is possible that the Dems may turn out in greater numbers. Will the special election allow mail-in voting ?
No matter what, this will be the most expensive and intense special election ever.

I think you have that exactly backwards.

Republicans will be demoralized with Trump dead and Democrats will be highly motivated, especially with Warnock on the ballot.

His Black voter problem is that he's so white he glows in the dark, and there were a ton of problems between the cops and the black community in his city that his opponents absolutely beat him over the head with on the campaign trail.
He jumps into the limelight in the ATL as the bridge between the White Millennial set and the Black community down there and all that goes away, instantly. If you've seen him all over the news lately - he's been hard to miss! - you'd see the cameras still love him.
He's going to make himself the face of this race. Watch. This isn't even a hard call. He's still got a massive war chest on his lonesome and the donors will throw money at him to coordinate this thing.

he would win their vote.
Which if I was a member of that community would really bother me. It kind of supports Biden's unintended insult.

It's going to be a three-ring circus with probably a riot and a hip-hop version of Woodstock thrown in for good measure.
On the other side will be the GOP, with their usual well-oiled War Machine we just saw largely choke off what everybody thought was going to be a Blue Tsunami. And the 'Pubs still probably do still have slight numbers edge in the state of Georgia itself.
If you like political theatre, we've got a ringside seat to what's looking like one of the best shows in recent American history.
If you know how this story ends, you're way smarter than I am.

what is on the line. If they wish, I will write the commercials for them (Loeffler needs to fire whoever is doing hers anyway).
I'll gladly vote for Perdue and hold my nose for Loeffler. I dislike Loeffler so much, I would vote for Warnock if the Senate wasn't on the line.

That'd be the smart money. And my pragmatic hope. As I've said, a split government is probably the healthiest thing for America right now. Stop trying to obliterate each other and work stuff out.
On the other hand, there's something real different going on in the ATL right now, which is why if I'm a GOP strategist I wouldn't like what I was up against at all. I've been down there for a couple Atlanta United games and it's been just batsh!t crazy - like, 70,000 frenzied fans in the stands for a MLS soccer game. As a writer I try to keep my eye on the cultural zeitgeist and there's just this massive young-people-driven cultural energy down in the ATL I've literally never seen before.
Does that translate into something different? I have no idea. But the ATL is very much a different animal than it was 10 or even five years ago.
Best video I've seen that sums it up on what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXNuVz4EFUc
