He told me that cheese left because, he wanted to go to a "national brand" like Auburn. Then I said roll tide, and he didn't speak another word.

Charllie Harbison left for two reasons:
1. Because he knew that he'd be fired after next season at the latest, and
2. Because he knew that Brent Venables was going to beat him senseless prior to that.

The thing Clemson will miss most is his recruiting not his actual coaching. I suspect BV didn't shed many tears but to say he was going to be fired is a complete exaggeration.

Dabo would have had to choose between Harbison and Venables by the end of the 2013 season at the latest. Harbison's on the field product reflected the relationship between him and Venables. Dabo made out like a Democrat when Auburn provided an out for Mr. Harbison.

Harbison wouldnt have been fired...
#1 he is a hell of a recruiter
#2 you had multiple injuries and the secondary and he has been working eitha few guys that arent D1. Guys i dont believe he recruited.

hired Harbison because he was a familiar friend, and a good recruiter. As a DB coach, he would have to evaluate DB's to offer and recruit, but our coaches are assigned areas, not just their position. The DB's signed over the last four classes had a stamp of approval from Harbison, whether he personally recruited then or not.
Our player development at DB since 09 has also been terrible. It would have been very tough for Dabo to keep his friend on our staff.
