are we the only school that cares about this? Not exposed to schools in other places - do they freak like us every year when the rankings come out?

USNews probably gave us this ranking just to get us off their back.

I'm proud to be a Clemson graduate and proud that the University is ranked up with the top universities, but this has seemed like some odd type of obsession for the last decade.

Or - *gulp* - will we now start a "Top 10" campaign?

so you will give more money, time, etc. for the sake of something nobody knows about. Do you know the ranking of say, Syracuse? Or Nebraska? Or any other school in the country?

Evidently they don't target you for the guilt trips.

As long as Clemson is considered a quality school, that's all that matters. Top 20, top 10, top 30, so what.

Hopefully not!!! Clemson has proven it can be a top 20 university in Academics and Athletics. Why would anyone want to change anything about that. Its ok to be smart and athletic, they both go very well together!!!
