Why has Covid-19 hit the NorthEast US hardest?

Apr 20, 2020, 5:40 PM

5 of the top 6 states in "cases per million":

NY, NJ, RI, MA, CT

Is it because of population density or density of population? Or...?

Crowded of course.

So the people in NJ are 8 times as dense as the people

Apr 20, 2020, 5:55 PM

in SC. ;)

Actually - those states are in the top 7 in population density. (I didn't realize RI would be in there.) Also didn't realize Peurto Rico had as any folks per square mile as NJ...

populations have few cases, and Japan didn't do any lock down. The answers to why the disparity will be a long time coming, I think.

Great fear mongering. What if CNN does this with FLU or Herpes or HPV (which is now killing men at unprecedented rates with throat cancer). Let’s just have a channel dedicated to maps of people diagnose with diseases.

And this is why we have the EC

Apr 20, 2020, 7:08 PM

joking, but it’s kinda cool to see a non political explanation of population density and how it works.

Maybe Italians. Italy hit hard. Northeast USA hit hard. Might be Italians

According to the Administration, the infection in the North East likely came from Europe rather than China.

There are pretty large populations of Italians, Greeks, Irish, and more in the New York, Northeast area. A lot of flights back and forth to Europe likely infected multiple people quickly. Whereas the virus on the west coast initially spread one person at a time.

I hate it for them up there. More deaths in the Northeast than anywhere else in the country. Lot's of grieving families in that area.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep - NY has more cases than any other COUNTRY. (Except

Apr 21, 2020, 10:48 AM

for China maybe - I don't trust their official numbers.)
