bonehead trick play

Have any of the coaches been asked what that bonehead trick play call was on our first drive? We were moving the ball down the field with ease. I also don't see how it could possibly work. The O-line gives the D-line a free rush, and we think we will have time to do a backward pass to the tight end for him to also throw down field. I guess Kelly needed to wait longer for the rush to come to him, but it was a really risky unnecessary play.

It worked just fine at Miami two years ago. The intent is to make the defense think there was a penalty they didn’t hear and to slow that rush for a second or two. Didn’t work last night but other teams have since copied us and used it to success in the past two years.
